I think many economists could make a case for a single currency though. It would be an interesting way to prevent run-away inflation in places like Zimbabwe and Venezuela. Developed nations wouldn't have currency risk from international trade. A single currency would certainly level the playing field with China and their currency manipulation. Plus the currency would probably be the U.S. dollar (or based on) given it's current position in the global market.
