I spent a month in Ukraine in 2016 and all of the friends I made there are currently preparing for the worst and all the males are assuming they will be fighting and dead soon.

It almost feels like Binden's current administration wants Russia to invade to keep all of his negative headlines out of the news cycle. Classic shitty President move. If all else fails get involved in a war.
Getting into a conflict with Russia has to be top 5 of worst possible situations for the entire globe (pandemic included). I definitely pray for cooler heads and the people of Ukraine today.

We moved our entire development operation including some internal servers to Ukraine. To say we’re in panic mode right now is an understatement.
I've been waiting for something to happen since September to be honest. A little background, I have some very close friends who started getting mobilized to Romania (which was a little strange to all of us, a rather new relationship but one of strategic importance). We didn't understand it all at the time but come December and added intel on the number of troops, supplies, and movement being built up around Ukraine and the Black Sea, (to my untrained eye and brain), it seemed evident something was happening.
I've been plenty wrong before about plenty of things but I've been right in a few things in the past too (Atlanta real estate market about to grow, GA turning purple, Raleigh/Durham blowing up, CAVA blowing up, Clemson winning a natty soon (we all knew this one haha)). I hope and pray I'm wrong about Russia though.

I just listed wars (declared and not) dating back to WWI and who was president at the time.
The US is the one who is saying a war is imminent. They know Putin has no interest in a full on war so they are backing him into a corner with this "Russia is going to invade on Wednesday" stuff. Putin from the very start wanted to negotiate through strength to get more for russia. The US knows this and is backing him into a corner. Either he invades on the timeline we've created, "this week" or he looks weak. Either way he will lose. Russia economy is in bad shape they do not want a full out war with the west.

Yeah I believe what others have said that most of this is just Putin posturing for a better deal in any future negotiations. Russia obviously doesnt want Ukraine in NATO. Their economy is still fairly shaky so I dont think a war (and the inevitable sanctions from the West that will follow) does him any favors.
And dont think for a minute that Biden is the only one to blame for any of this. Former President Trump did a lot of enabling of Putin with his "I believe Putin over the US intelligence community" bs. Putin just wants to see where Biden stands and if making him look bad so a Republican President takes over in 2024 is good for Russia then that is what he wants. If making Biden look good is better for Russia then that is what he wants. End of story. They arent our friend but they are someone we have to be able to deal with.
But in the big scheme of things they are nowhere near as important a rival as China is.

We’re a SaaS product within a much larger tech company. Supposed to be releasing a new cloud based product in Q2 but if Vlad decides to flip the switch on internet access or, worse, some of our folks are called up…it’s gonna be a rough few months.

What makes the irony even better is the recent Hillary news that anyone with a brain has known for the last half-decade. These people are so brainwashed there’s literally zero chance they will ever accept the truth. They’re unwittingly beholden to their big gov overlords and will do their bidding until death
