Ohio St is supposedly the overwhelming odds on favorite to win not only the B1G but the National Championship again. VT is by and large considered a slightly above average team with pedestrian depth, mostly uninteresting players (as in nobody talks about any of them nationally), are unranked, and play in the conference a large contingent of people feel gets left out of the CFP virtually regardless of what the ACC does on the field.
So 1pt loss or whatever....controversial call....FG as time expires....doesn't matter. If VT wins when absolutely NOBODY thinks they have any chance at all, how far does ohio st drop? My guess is it would be #6 at the worst. I still think it would get completely ignored as it was last season. If VT goes 6-6, folks will talk about how ohio st gradually imporved. If VT goes undefeated, they'd talk about how ohio st played a "great" team all of a sudden. Should be interesting to see how VT competes in this game. Curious how much pride is left in that program b/c Meyer surely is going to try and make an example out of them to set the tone for a repeat.
