3 very well written and extremely interesting articles on Coach Brownell who has had, by all accounts, a terrific offseason and perhaps stands on the cusp of having the best Clemson BB team in the last 15 years. Clemson might have the player of the year in the ACC next year(when is the last time that happened?).
It’s a very exciting time for Clemson basketball.
Isn’t it?
My observation is this(using objective information but on posts that vary in topic):
Brownell Interview #1 = 42 posts
Brownell Interview #2 = 11 posts
Brownell Interview #3 = 10 posts
Billy Amick = 464 posts
Off-season Baseball = 1000+ posts
Mack Alexander issue from 8 years ago = 220 posts
Dismissal of Danny For from 34 years ago = 75 posts
Again, I fully realize this is somewhat comparing apples to oranges. However, as alluded to earlier, it seems like there should be more excitement around CU basketball right now than at anytime in the last couple decades perhaps.
Honest question: Is there a really high level of apathy about CU basketball? Is this something Clemson is willing to live with because CBB is a good ambassador who runs a clean program and is fairly competitive?
Full transparency about my fandom; I’m not a CBB fan, but I’m not in the camp that he needs to be fired every year either. I guess I consider myself more a curious observer that doesn’t really understand how he made it through the way last year ended. I’m genuinely a little perplexed at the situation, the factors that play into the AD’s decision to stay status quo after setting a bar that CBB failed to meet last year, and the apparent fan base malaise.
I mean honestly, the AD has to keep his finger on the pulse of fan excitement for the basketball program, and I’m not feeling it from my fellow fans right now with the exception of the few diehard, vocal folks we have on the board(and congrats to them for their perseverance - I’m being dead serious).
Thoughts?
