Looking at the records over the last 50 years (1974-2023), here is where each team stands. There has been talk about trimming the fat of all the major conferences and going to a league somewhere between 32 and 64 teams. They want teams and fans that support their programs through thick and thin and have performed over these last 50 years and have been either bluebloods or as close to bluebloods as possible. They want a league that spreads out across the country and brings in fans from everywhere.

These teams should all be in. All are really solid football programs and have a ton of history behind them. Also, all have large stadiums over 50K. That makes for great game atmospheres every time.

48. MO. - 60K stadium

I could see leaving quite a few of these teams out. I mean who wants to leave for this major conference and play games against BC, Cincy, Stanford, Houston, AZ and MD. I think the number needs to end somewhere between the 32 and 48. I am thinking 40 might be right. 50K stadium size should be the minimum capacity to get in to go along with a solid winning percenage. I would get rid of BC, Houston, and AZ and replace them with Ole Miss, TCU, and either GT/ KS ST or MO

Teams Left Out
ACC - CAL, SMU, UVA, WF, Duke, CUSE (6) - All small capacities under 50K
Big 12 - Baylor, IA ST, KS, CO, UCF (5) - CO, KS and Ia St have stadiums 50K or bigger
SEC - Vandy, KY, MS ST. (3) - KY and MS ST have stadiums oveer 50K
Big 10 - Purdue, IN, MN, Rutgers, ILL, NW (6) - Purdue, IN, MN, Rutgers, and ILL all seat over 50K
Other - WA ST, OR ST (2) - None are big enough
