Just copying Larry's posts so I have them for later
I have never understood the idea that Dabo is calling the plays by virtue of the fact that he's holding a play sheet and communicating with Streeter/Elliott.
Does he play a role in the play-calling? Absolutely. But the idea that he's taken over play-calling just doesn't square with what I'm seeing between plays.
Nah.
He has done that his entire tenure. His background is in offense. He's heavily involved in the offense. That doesn't mean he's calling the plays.
I just watched the Rams, whose head coach does call the plays. There is a distinct difference in what you see from McVay between plays and what you see from Dabo between plays.
I have no doubt Dabo will give input such as: "We got four downs here; we need to run the ball here; let's run that exotic play call that worked so well in practice," etc.
But this idea that he's taken over play-calling, based on the sight of him doing something he's done his entire tenure, is wild to me.
