This just articulates there is one way of thinking going on in these circles and they will do anything to stop another way of thinking. It's also yet another example of why the Congress needs to take back all the powers it has ceded to the executive branch. This is treasonous behavior. We have a power structure behind that makes our elected officials window dressing. I'm for completely and totally cleaning house so we can be rid of folks like Milley. He's a disgrace to his uniform.

So when the Wapo does an investigative piece about someone you approve of (insert conservative name here) it is garbage fake news. But when they an investigative piece about someone you don't like it is grounds for that person to be fired immediately?

interesting ... that doesnt sound like treason to me

"According to the book, Milley contacted Zuocheng after he had reviewed intelligence that suggested Chinese officials believed the United States was planning an attack on China amid military exercises in the South China Sea."

"General Li, I want to assure you that the American government is stable and everything is going to be OK," Milley told him during the first call, the book said. "We are not going to attack or conduct any kinetic operations against you."

Sounds like the Chinese had false intel, and Milley stepped in.

then there is this

"Gen. Li, you and I have known each other for now five years. If we're going to attack, I'm going to call you ahead of time," Milley added, as reported by the book, "Peril," which is set to be released next week. "It's not going to be a surprise."

I mean ... when we blew that base in Syria to hell and back we did warn the Russians ahead of time sooooooooo.

... when you consider the context here ... we had just come out of a really bad election ... everyone is on edge ... the President of the United States is ranting and raving for the world to see ... causing both our friends and enemies to be on edge as well ...

Ive never served in the Military, but this doesnt sound like treason to me .... this sounds like diplomacy ....

.....and before a derp goes there ... Im a Registered Republican and have voted straight ticket republican in every election ...except for 2016.

If a high ranking official is going to warn a foreign government about a pending attack before we attack them and basically indicates that the President (his boss) is possibly unstable then yes. I know in the quote he says things are stable but then he said a whole lot of other things that led one to believe the opposite. The same would be true of he did that under Biden and I actually believe Biden is unstable and incompetent. I'm sure the folks on this board who hate Trump believed he was incompetent and unstable. Nevertheless, that's not how we do it here.

Reading definitely isn't your strength and given the posts you make, that's not surprising. It wasn't an investigative piece by the Washington Post. It's a story about details from an upcoming Bod Woodward book. Woodward is a hack but he does have a knack for getting people to talk to him.

Agreed but that doesn’t sound like that was the case. Sounds like there was no attack planned, we received intel that the Chinese had false intel and Milley contacted his equivalent in the Chinese military to clarify.

from reading the article I didn’t see where Milley suggested to the Chinese that Trump was unstable. He may have had those discussions internally and it looks like he did … with his subordinates, but I don’t see how that is treason ….

When an American general tells the Chinese military official that he'll let them know if we're going to attack them then that's a problem. That, by inference, the lies that the person doing the informing doesn't think their stability and the leader of a country.

Since you are so big on reading you should read more history. Back channel diplomacy has always been a thing. And thank god for it. It has averted many unnecessary conflicts. Especially when countries elect reality TV game shows hosts as president.

Sign me up to be on the initial strike that this guy orders. Just let me know in enough time to triple my life insurance policy. Nothing like telling the enemy we're coming to cost Amercian lives.

Not treason....but should be fired because now his subordinates should have ZERO confidence in him to protect their lives. I know 13 heros who would agree.

I would be absolutely appalled if he actually said this. If so, Biden should fire him immediately. But hey, maybe he's doing a bang up job on his plan to root out domestic terrorists.

If he seeks to undermine the authority of the elected President and also puts the lives of troops at risk, what about that isn't treasonous? Regardless of who is in elected office, what we have in this country is an unelected base of power that needs to be purged from their jobs. Again, the administrative and military bureaucracy are poison pills that threaten the future and present well being of our nation. This government we have now isn't a good form of government and it's very far from what was originally intended which would be immeasurably better for these times.

Hopefully you're not so far gone that you can't see there's a difference between back channel diplomacy and plotting with a foreign power to undermine the current president. I can appreciate many of your criticisms of Trump but what about his foreign policy suggested we were going to war? The policies of his administration reduced conflict in the world dramatically. There are tangible ways to measure this. Several historic peace agreements were made and progress on many fronts is evident. Of course, it's all a distant memory because we have President Biden now who has undone a large part of the progress that was made. Droning aid workers and their families the specialty of Biden and Milley. Both should be removed from office.

I think the bigger question should be what was said between Gen. M and Nancy Pelosi and the dates in which those conversations took place. If there are receipts showing an unstable president, then all good by me but going to go out on a limb here and suggest those convos happened before Jan 6th........

Other concern is this is awfully well timed with his colossal f*ck up in Afghanistan inclusive of that "high value target" they took down......ie, the aide worker and his entire family.

nope. This happened after Jan 6th. Trump had lost the election and failed in his attempt to have the results tossed out. He was 100% unstable and would do just about anything to stay in power. I have no problem with Milley stepping in to prevent a lame duck president from launching an attack. I seriously doubt that he would give China a “heads up” before we attacked. He would just prevent the attack.

Again, I find it reprehensible that you will most likely discount every negative thing about trump in this Woodward book but are ready to hang a life long soldier who has served his country. It’s disgusting.

The first call was before 1/6. This action began before the election even so it wasn't a lame duck president as you describe. But I can see why you'd overlook that point. He also promised the Chinese he would warn them. Your speculation otherwise is just that. The events of 1/6 have been so massively overblown to gain power. It's the closes political equivalent to the Reichstag fire I have ever seen. People just react without even remembering the reality of that day which is unfortunate. And it has to be acknowledged that the unhinged behavior of Trump from the days after the election through that date were a huge problem in this country. He was a maniac and I did question if he had lost his mind over losing (yes, he lost) the election.

I'm not sure how much you read but I have never really said much positive about Trump. I campaigned vigorously against him in the primary season before the 2016 election. I'm not a fan. I will campaign vigorously against him if he decides to run again which I pray he doesn't. He is toxic and our country doesn't need more of him if it is to survive what the left is doing to it now. Not sure how much clearer I can be.

I guess where we part ways is that as bad as he is, he's a fraction of the threat to our country that we see on the left right now. Trump is no longer president. Don't really care about your derangement syndrome for Trump. I am quite concerned about the future of the so called "deep state" that is a huge problem. And it won't be better if the next Republican president fires all these people and replaces them with conservatives. No one should have that much lasting power in government.

EDIT: Out of curiosity, you link three Bible verses that are all about giving up possessions to those in need. I suppose you view that as justification for confiscation of wealth by Democrat policies to help the masses. The objectives of those verses are all different in case you were interested. However, in none of them is it suggested we should give up our possessions to further impower those in power that they may subjugate us and seek control over all our lives while wasting massive amounts of that which is given to them and ultimately improving the lot of no one. You can't abdicate your salvation to the government. It is for us, the people of this world, to give up what we have in service to one another. Just a thought. :)

I have Trump derangement syndrome for talking about trump in a thread about trump that you started? Makes sense.

Not sure if you are aware, but a war with China would be really, really bad for us. We have known that for a long time which is why there is a North and South Korea today and not just Korea. I have no problem with members if the "deep state" or Trump's own appointees using back channel diplomacy to prevent a war based on Trump's irresponsible rhetoric.

Those verses are more applicable to immigration than taxation. The christian right's views on immigration is absolutely the opposite of what the bible teaches. But speaking of taxes, before we raise taxes on any individuals we should tax the churches. I say that as an ordained Minister.

Considering you don't capitalize anything related to God or The Bible, you'll have to color me skeptical but then again, what what we see today in many churches, nothing would surprise me. We could say you have BS in Ministry. :)

We are not a theocratic nation. We're a nation of laws. And you totally don't understand a lot of views if you feel that way. You just want to paint folks with a broad brush which is why you're a terribly bigoted and prejudiced person.

I laughed. Theocracy drives 80% of the republican platform.

Conservatives like yourself treat The Bible like a buffet. You pick and choose what you want and leave the rest or claim "that's not what Jesus meant!" It's shameful.

It's interesting that republicans are zeroing in on this one story from a Woodward book, but completely ignore all of the other stories in his books about Trump that overwhelmingly paint him in a negative light. The same sources (folks inside the Administration) were used in all of his books. How did they get it wrong when giving info negative to Trump's governing tactics, but nailed it in this scenario?

Milley confirmed it, so it's different from the Trump stories that were and still are not confirmed.

LOL - almost everyone that unceremoniously left the Trump administration has gone on record about their experiences. Gateway Pundit won’t give it to you, but you can venture out and quickly read their accounts, which corroborate Woodward’s book(s) - just like Milley did.

John Durham will clear up the difference for you.

He has absolutely nothing to do with what I was posting about. “Keep up”.
Uh, yes it does. Your scenario was fabricated. The so-called general's shit storm is verified. You might need to go back to school for some warranty work.

In other words, the only truth in Woodward’s books is the story about Milley? Got it!

FWIW - I never said the Milley story wasn’t true. I believe his just like I do the other ones in the books. Interviews that are later corroborated by the interviewee are pretty compelling, like the ones from Mattis, Tillerson, Bolton, Kelly, etc. Ironically, I don’t recall Trump ever disputing the facts these men shared about him as President - he just called them derogatory names and kept churning along. Of course, that was enough for his ardent followers to believe him and discount everything they said.
