are a complete cluster right now. Here is why I am saying this.
The company I work for donates to IPTAY at the Riggs level and I handle our relationship with Clemson. We get an email asking us to touch base with them regarding renewal, so I call the contact on the email. He proceeds to layout that we can donate $12k to NIL (which they need asap) and pay $9300 to IPTAY for our seat equity and maintain our Riggs donation level. This is a $3700 discount on a $25k donation. We've had a good year and are trying to bring 2025 expenses forward into this year, so, of course, we paid in full today.
Once that conversation is over, I tell our contact that I personally am a Fike level donor and would like to discuss the incentive I would have to increase my donation to the Heisman level in order to support their fundraising efforts. I know I have been outspoken against supporting this system, but, like I said, we've had a good year and I am willing to help out. The response I got was that they had not considered that yet and were only reaching out to Riggs level donors at this time. I was polite and told the young man that you have a long time donor on the line who is willing to help you out with your fundraising efforts and that I cannot believe they had not considered donors who would be willing to do this. He asked if he could talk to his supervisor and call me back.
Here is the deal they proposed. Donate $6000 to 110 and $6800 to IPTAY which is $800 above the Heisman Level donation for my willingness to help out by increasing my donation 50%. The rewards are the bonus priority points for the $6000 donated to 110 and for increasing to the Heisman level. They are out there begging for funds from "big" donors trying to land whales and they don't even have a plan for hitting singles, doubles and triples with other donor levels. I was expecting something along the lines of half the discount given to Riggs donors to make a Heisman level donation, but I guess that was the best they could come up with when put on the spot.
There are people on this board who are close to those in the athletic administration, and some of you have direct contact to Graham Neff. The current approach is a complete and total cluster*&(!. Failing to have answers to questions for donors willing to help out at any donation level at this point when you are basically begging for money by end of the year (or Feb 15th at the latest) makes me wonder WTF some highly paid people have been doing.
Clemson used to be ahead of the curve on things like this, but they look like a bunch of Keystone cops right now. Somebody needs to hold somebody else accountable for such a mess. If Clemson has trouble retaining players because of fundraising efforts, there needs to be additions to the unemployment lines based on what I experienced today.
