I'm trying to get a gauge on my own excitement/anticipation level for next week's game when compared to other previously hyped games in the Valley... For perspective, I started regularly attending when my father first purchased season tickets in 1984.
Obvious recent choices are FSU (what a way to ring in my 40th!) and UGA 2013. I was seriously jacked for both... Other's that come to mind.
1988 vs. FSU. We entered the game ranked 3rd, and the Noles 10th. Puntrooskie and heartbreak. We were loaded that year... Only other loss being a TD game in Raleigh to a top 25 NCSU club.
1992 vs. FSU. First year for the Noles in the ACC. Charlie Ward and a top 5 FSU squad.. Watched from the hill. What a heartbreaker.
2006 vs. GT. First Gameday, and introducing the nation to Thunder/Lightning.
2011 vs. FSU. Fresh off the Auburn win in Chad Morris' first year.
2012 vs. SC. Believe SC came in 12th and us at 13th. Painful memories in that 27-17 loss.
Those are the ones that come to mind initially for me... While the 2013 FSU game probably rated higher in regards to significance (top 5 undefeated conference teams with legitimate MNC discussion), I can honestly say that I'm feeling as much, or more anticipation for next week's game...
