Scott just spent some time with the media. A few notables:

-- Scott is very confident Williams will be able to play football again. Says Williams is really eager to play this year but they're a long way off from being able to make that determination. The important part here is the medical staff has given the football staff every assurance Williams will be back eventually. The plan right now is for him to wear a neck brace for six weeks, and then they will re-evaluate.

"I have no doubt he'll be back," Scott said.

Scott added that Williams was the first one to show up to this morning's 6:30 meeting, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed and ready to lead.

-- Scott said they have planned for this moment and are ready for it. He said he hasn't lost any sleep at all over this, and he told the receivers precisely that this morning.

"We'll be perfectly fine. Nobody in the country is feeling sorry for the Clemson receivers."

-- Charone Peake is the guy at the 9 spot now. He's cross-trained there quite a bit, alternating between that and his normal spot at the 5. Trevion Thompson moved over to the 5 after Williams' injury. That explains why Deon Cain came in early at the 9.

-- The offense didn't go downfield much against Wofford, and that was largely because the Terriers were playing off and giving a lot of cushion. Scott thinks that will change against Appalachian State, which likes to press and play man coverage.
