Sorry bout dem kidzSame stupid, regurgitated arguments. Got 1:30 in before he insinuated we don't have background checks, cut it off there
Concerning your second paragraph, you need stricter laws on a national level. The inverse of Stewart's point is also true. Regulate the hell out of guns but allow open borders, reduce policing, reduce parental authority, tax people into oblivion so that one central government can decide what's best for everyone. So the paradox exists on both sides...
He's conflating the rule of law and personal liberty. The reality is one cannot exist without the other but they must be taken in proportion. Guns really don't matter. They are just a battlefield for both sides to contest. Like so many things, nothing would be done one way or the other even if there was a pretend resolution. That's why we constantly see these mass shooters who bypassed all kinds of existing laws to commit their terrible acts of violence. But here's to us continuing to pretend it actually matters beyond our stupid political narratives.
If we're following the if/the logic, I could say that no true follower of Christ as ever committed a crime of this nature and that would be true. But then you'd say how to you qualify "true follower?" It is a never-ending cycle.
Quantifying order is such a slippery slope. That's why we need laws that we all agree upon that are enforced vigorously. We need a process to things in order to provide order but not oppression. Because history shows that the quest for order almost always ends up leading to oppression and abuse because humans never stop thirsting for power. That's why a system that defies their desire to achieve that is so important. Of course, for that to work, we need and educated and involved populace. We don't have that now. We have tribes and that is almost the worst thing we could possibly have.

Somehow plenty of other civilized nations have largely moved against guns without devolving into tyranny.
Concerning the last paragraph, I wonder where you think aiming to supplant the result of an election ranks on the scale of thirsting for power
Why, because he is a master of false dichotomies?
Because you have a red-state politician moronically trying to make it easier to acquire guns and he should be called out on it. Stewart does it better than anybody, even if you don't like what he says, you have to agree with that. Very savvy debater. Why, because he is a master of false dichotomies?
Who cares about the truth, the person whos championing my side is the best! The other guy absolutely was doing a terrible job, and Stewart certainly was masterful at setting up the false dichotomy and then attacking his inability to recognize it. But it doesn't disguise the fact that it was a stupid argument.Because you have a red-state politician moronically trying to make it easier to acquire guns and he should be called out on it. Shocker I know that I would agree more with the guy I agree with. Very astute!Who cares about the truth, the person whos championing my side is the best! Go team!
I'm not sure which part of the segment you're referring to but the main takeaways for me were:The other guy absolutely was doing a terrible job, and Stewart certainly was masterful at setting up the false dichotomy and then attacking his inability to recognize it. It's similar to the global warming catastrophe hoax. Like the atmosphere with carbon dioxide, the streets are saturated with guns. Criminals have no problem getting guns. More does nothing to affect the situation-- except perhaps to deprive law-abiding citizens of the opportunity to acquire them and perhaps level the playing field somewhat. The issue is with society...entire communities with little or no regard for human life. There are plenty of people who dive into the root causes of the societal rot, but it doesn't follow the popular woke narrative we attack the instrument and ignore the cause.
We humans have always had it within our ability to take life...en mass even...but we do or don't because of our humanity and our regard for human life.
I'm not sure which part of the segment you're referring to but the main takeaways for me were:
- The Sen. argues that more guns makes us safer and after Stewart points out that statistics show the more guns sold, the higher the number of deaths. The Sen. then argues, it only goes up a little. SMH
- The Sen. argues that registration is an infringement on the rights of gun buyers and he doesn't want the citizens to be subjected to ANY federal legislation in Oklahoma. Stewart argues that if we can't track guns, we are less safe. I agree
- Stewart points out that you need order for other rights, like registering to vote etc... The Sen argues that the Second Amendment protects gun owners from that requirement and goes on to say we should be focused on things with higher death counts, like fentanyl and obesity. Stewart asks, so the answer to obesity is ice cream? Great point
- The Sen. makes the same ole lame argument that it's the person not the gun that murders people - but as we know, Republicans vote down bills that address mental health as well, so if we can't do anything to support LE in stopping gun violence and we aren't addressing the person either, we're literally doing nothing.
- Stewart points out this ridiculous new Republican obsession with drag queens and how it hasn't led to any deaths and the Sen. argues that we have the responsibility to protect children. OH THE IRONY!
Lol holy shit. Religion truly poisons everything.lI could say that no true follower of Christ as ever committed a crime of this nature and that would be true.
i had to have a chuckle at gum laws. Some other interesting stats from Stewart.
66% of guns recovered from Chicago crime scenes originated in surrounding red states with weaker gum laws.
In California, 45%.
In New York, 81% if guns recovered were trafficked from SC, GA, and FL.
The majority of guns from crime scenes in Mexico are from the US.
**** the GOP.
you are actually retarded. The inverse of Stewart's point is also true. They live in a back asswards world, and they don’t care about the sanctify of mothers’ lives, nor the child’s life post birthi had to have a chuckle at gum laws.
but seriously, why would a party that cares so much about the sanctity of life be so in favor of life ending machines in every hand?

No doubt, he wouldn't survive without power to his spray tanning booth and hair dryer! Can you imagine if Bunker Boy was president of Ukraine? He would have left the country on day one of the invasion.
