<EDIT: I realize "Nut" is a strong word....somehow I hit save before I could go change it and apparently post titles can't be edited. I'm just wondering if there is "outside the norm" religious convictions in the mix here. Otherwise, I'm sort of grasping at straws.">

I'll be honest - I'm only asking because I care about him joining the team again and, based on what Dabo is saying, it looks to me like Reader is basically bailing on his teammates.

I was just wondering if it had anything to do with religious beliefs or something extreme like playing on a certain day of the week.

I know some will get mad at the questioning but out of 10,000+ FBS players about to take the field this fall, this may be an entirely unique situation so it deserves some level of scrutiny I think.

For all the discussion about paying players (and I'm fine with some basic stipends), the reality is that he has had literally hundreds of thousands of dollars invested into his college years at Clemson. The cold hard facts is that that is a contract between the student and institution, with both sides knowing that some risk is inherent. The university hopes for some return on the investment and, in exchange, the kid gets a unique college experience, a degree (with tons of academic support and help), and hopefully great experiences and life lessons to take into the future. In this case and Rogers' case, it sort of chaps my hide that they've taken advantage of the system as a sort of one-way street.
