He's had a great season no doubt, but best defensive player in college football with 28 tackles?
Of his 11.5 sacks, 3.5 came against Wofford and ODU. Just for comparison, all of Parker's 11 were against ACC/SEC.
Among DEs/DLs:
Kennard: 11.5 sacks, 15.5 TFL, 28 total tackles, 3 FF, 1 PD
Parker: 11.0 sacks, 19.5 TFL, 54 total tackles, 6 FF, 1 PD
BC DE Ezeiruaku: 16.5 sacks, 20.5 TFL, 80 total tackles, 3 FF, 1 PD
VT DE APR: 16.0 sacks, 19.0 TFL, 43 total tackles, 3 FF, 0 PD
Marshall DL Green: 17.0 sacks, 22.5 TFL, 81 total tackles, 3, FF, 2 PD
PSU DE Carter: 10.0 sacks, 19.5 TFL, 60 total tackles, 2 FF, 3 PD
Carter was invited as a finalist as well as Michigan's Mason Graham (DL with 3.5 sacks) and Texas' Jahdae Barron (DB with 5 INTs).
I know you can't completely base it on stats alone but was he that dominant at the point of attack and affected each play/commanded double teams? His numbers just seem meh for a Nagurski winner. Got to be that "SEC just means more" bump.
