The '22 QB class isn't looking very hot 2 years in. Check out these stats for Klubnik in comparison to to his peers. It'll be interesting to see how the dust settles in a few years.

The rest (for those who don't X):
Here’s the list of guys who have played 10+ games in the last 2 seasons:

Klubnik
Ty Simpson (Bama backup, 25 atts)
Drew Allar (Penn St, better than Cade)
Katin Houser (Mich St, now backup)
Nate Johnson (Utah to Vandy, backup)
Nicco Marchiol (West Va backup)

That’s it.
Other notable names that have played

Conner Weigman, TAMU (9 GP, always hurt)
Devin Brown, Ohio St (likely 3rd string)
Walker Howard, LSU to Ole Miss (backup)
Garret Rangel, Okla St (backup)
Jacurri Brown, Miami to UCF (backup)

Get the picture? This class basically stinks.
Eight of the blue chip QBs in the 2022 class have transferred. Nick Evers has already transferred twice (Oklahoma, Wisconsin, UConn).

Of those players, only 2 are projected to be starters in year 3:

A.J. Duffy (Florida St to San Diego St)
Maalik Murphy (Texas to Duke)
Some more absolutely brutal 2022 QB class numbers:

—7 have attempted fewer than 10 passes
—2 haven’t thrown a pass at all
—Allar/Klubnik/Weigman have combined for 66 TD passes: the other 18 have combined for just 34!

So how do we explain this? My theory…
A combination of 3 main factors:

1. These guys had their pre-junior summers and junior seasons impacted by Covid. Higher chance of missed evaluations by colleges + slower development for them.

2. Schools are choosing older transfers over younger projects.

3. Random bad luck.

Based on all this, here are the two main conclusions I’ve come to on this topic:

Maybe Cade’s entire peer group needs an extra year to more fully develop based on the unique context in which it exists.

Clemson is in a better QB spot than you might think relative to its peers.
