This week a lot of people were very worried about Louisville and obviously that concern was legitimate. I was not as worried because we are simply better than Louisville.
Lets see...
1. On the road
2. Thursday night where 75% of teams lose
3. playing team with their backs against the wall
4. only 3 days of prep
5. preparing for 3 qb's
6. Losing our best WR
Did I miss anything? And yet we still pull out the win despite poor execution and DW4 playing perhaps his worst game as a tiger.
When Tommy Bowden was here I never thought we would win those games despite having an overwhelming advantage in terms of talent in many cases. I don't think he had confidence in his teams either and I am sure it showed. There is a fine line as a coach from making your team stay humble and eager to work and also making them feel invincible, knowing that they will win in the end no matter what happens during the course of the game.
I never see doubt in these kids and that speaks very highly of Dabo and his staff. They recruit well, prepare well, and instill the confidence and swagger that it takes to never panic in different situations. I hope we win many conference championships and another national title as well, but when Bowden was here all I wanted was to beat the teams we should beat and maybe an occasional upset of a better team. And I'll be honest, with the way we are recruiting, if we can continue to do that, I'm gonna be a happy camper.
