Liberty University returning to class

Meanwhile, Trump is on Fox News making his case for business to go ahead and re-open.

Bold strategy Cotton, let's see if it pays off for 'em.

Historic unemployment (which is where we are headed) plus Corona will be the absolute worst case situation. You will see death rates compound if we do not get our economy back up and running.

You have to work through this I think, but be responsible in your work places.

And yea this is a no win situation.

Sounds like shelter in place in campus housing, online classes, dining hall take out only, no campus visitation, no groups larger than 10. I would imagine that the typical Liberty student body is already a fairly isolated population, like a Bob Jones.

All in all, probably safer than apartment living in NYC.

Just to be clear, do you think liberty should open back up?

I am beginning to wonder how long it will be before this is all just another red state/blue state issue.

Can states close their borders to each other?

Its not a red state/blue state but it is an extreme one way or the other, just like most things on social media. Its either "nobody should leave their house until the last conronavirus case is eradicated from the earth because Uncle Earl has COPD" to "aint gonna chance nothing I do."

Things like this are about risk management. There's always going to be some risk. You close down certain things, certain things stay business as usual. You don't take your snot nosed kids to visit granny in the nursing home. You don't take pictures of people on the Atlanta Beltway that are 5'11" apart and try to publicly shame them. You don't need a segment on the news on how to receive a pizza from the Papa Johns delivery guy without wearing a hazmat suit.

I watched CNN last night and the announcer was blasting Red States for not closing businesses and imposing Social Distancing faster. On a per million population basis, Louisiana has more cases than any state according to their governor.

Here's an interesting statistic - how many states have 10 or fewer deaths from COVID-19?

That's why states will open up at various rates and times.

Yeah.....very much like sending the waves of soldiers onto the beaches of Normandy knowing that a huge percentage would be killed and wounded in order to win the battle and war in order to save the Republic. Nothing much good on either side of this equation and I certainly don't envy those that must make the call that will sacrifice xxxx citizens. Will starvations and suicides, and homicides from significant social and economic disruption exceed the lives lost to the pandemic?? Horrible choices. May God have very on us all.

No... Travel between states is covered in the constitution. Mostly forbidding taxes and stuff like that, but travel is protected IIRC.

Well, the problem is bad data. Only 3 people have died in Idaho and only a few hundred cases. BUT according to our governor briefing last night ONE hospital in Boise has been waiting on the results for over 3000 tests for days... and some of those folks have died. THAT'S why he's shutting everything down, because he sees what's going on, not what he can measure. Not enough tests out here to do anything but test seriously ill people and the results are still taking a long time. That shiit that they are peddling out of the White House briefings every day hasn't reached this far west yet I guess.
