I was looking at some of the top 25 rivalries and was thinking some of these would be good to bring to the ACC and others could really be amped up through new ideas/promotion etc. I would like to see ALL ACC teams have a permanent rivalry game outside the conference against an SEC/Big 10 and/or Big 12 team. In fact, all ACC teams should have 2 big games vs. SEC/Big 10 or Big 12 locked up every year. The days of multiple easy games are over. If all 4 major conferences agreed that you can only play 1 game not in a power 4 conference that would make college football so much better for TV. Vandy/NW/Duke/WF need to be playing each other every year. FL/FSU/Miami need to be playing each other. Penn ST/Pitt/WV/VT need to be playing each other. Stanford/Cal/UCLA and USC need to be playing each other. SMU/BYU/TCU need to be playing each other. If all conferences went to 9 conference games, 2 OOC permanent rival power 4 games and 1 game vs. anyone you want that would really make things super competitive and get some of those rivalries back. However, in the meantime ACC schools should lock in as many long term OOC rivalry games as it can going forward. This would mean A LOT more money for the schools because viewership would rise dramatically. Pitt locking in games with WV and Penn ST every year would great. Duke and WF should look to lock in long term deals with NW and Vandy. It just makes sense. SMU should look to lock in both TCU and BYU. Clemson has already locked in SC and ND and we play FSU every year in conference. The ACC needs to step in and lock in Miami against Cl every year as well. Louisville should really try to get another team locked in from Purdue/IN/or Cincy. They are all their rivals. GT should try to lock in UCF, Auburn, Ole Miss or MS ST in addition to UGA. Miami needs to lock in a deal like CL with ND, they also need to try and get FL as much as they can. Possibly they could go get UCF. The conference needs to push everyone to have at least 2 big time games if not 3 vs power 4 conferences and to focus mostly on rivals. With TV ratings/brands playing a huge role in what you get paid, they should already be tackling this.
