I do think we are going to be very good but how good? Listening to all of the different radio station and reading the preseason reports of all of the major teams around the country there is one thing constantly said about most everyone except Clemson. Different "experts" will say something like Auburn is going to be good as they have 18 starters back along with Lawson and the big question is their new quarterback..or Georgia should be good as they have 18 starters back along with a healthy Moreno and the big question mark is at quarterback...or Florida State might be down as they are replacing 4 offensive lineman and 5 defensive starters....Anyway the thinking with most teams are the good ones have 16,17,18 starters back and in TCU's case 21 starters back and they seems to be highly thought of even without a proven commodity at QB. The teams that aren't getting much hype are the ones that lost a lot of starters. The truth is there are not many teams at all that lost as many starters as Clemson did last year and that has me somewhat concerned. I know the really good teams (and I think we are) sometimes just reload with the talent they recruit year to year and we are finally getting to that point but even the experts lower the Florida State's and Alabama's expectations when they lose 6-7 or 8 players on an offense or defense and with what we lost last year (especially on defense) combined with losing Battle and Lakip and our proven punter, well I am anxious to see how good are we really going to be. I know we might have more talented or at least higher rated individuals we are going to put on the field but the question will be how well will they play as a team? I have utmost confidence in our coaching staff but also waiting to see where or when our offensive coaching duo might stump their toe...experience a little growing pains. Yes they looked great in the debut but they did get off to a wonderful start but if they find themselves behind early on to some team how well and how long will it take them to adjust. Yes I do see us having a great year but somewhere somehow I still remember those defeats NC State used to put on us with Danny's better teams. I think we end up losing 2 games and one might be to someone we should whip. Hopefully Watson is able to be Watson ( the threat that he can take off with it is what makes him oh so much harder to prepare for) and we do not have to play to conservatively to keep him healthy.
I do think we only lose 2 games this year and look for 2016 to be our year to really make a run for the National Championship. We might well see a repeat of 1980 and 1981 where Georgia wins it all one year and Clemson the following..
