They "should" represent the interests of the people of their State, period. Not defending or criticizing him, but it’s an interesting question: How should a senator or congressman weigh the interests of his constituency against broader national questions?
Or to put it another way, are these people elected with the expectation that they’ll vote lockstep with what they think their constituencies would want or that they’ve been trusted to vote for what they think is most sensible in general?
Manchin IS a coal barron.coal is not the future, I think anyone with half a brain understands that. And the coal mine owners have an absolutely ****ing terrible track record for how they treat their employees. Manchin is taking the right stand here.
Exactly, and so is his son. The fact that he even sees that we need to reduce carbon emissions (at the expense of coal), should wake a lot of people up.Manchin IS a coal barron.
Coal and Oil are not the future, but they are the present and the immediate future. A switch to renewables too quickly is not possible. It will take time to build out the infrastructure supply the demand that will be required.
Not a fan of Gov getting in the way. The switch will come over an appropriate time frame and be driven by market demand.
