There used to be what was called "blue dog Democrats" that were somewhat more fiscally conservative but socially more liberal. Most of them are gone, or are too scared of being labeled racist/bigot/etc. to vote against anything put forth no matter how ridiculous it is. First he realizes how insane adding trillions MORE dollars to the deficit is given the fact we have already been spending $$ like drunken sailors. Also, he knows a lot of stuff in the bill is not what it is characterized to be. Dem politicians sell one thing to their voters, but many do not have the same priorities. Much of the big spending is to pay off political allies under the guise of equity/climate/etc. For example, one of the items in the bill is a credit for buying electric vehicles. Obviously this is being sold under the guise of climate change. However, if you read the fine print it only applies to EV's built in union factories. It really has nothing to do with climate change and everything to do with paying off Bidens union supporters. It's a farce and most people are just too stupid to realize it.

We were told that the supply chain was the reason for inflation so he ordered the ports to run 24/7 and he also placed a $100 a day surcharge on containers left sitting on the dock and voila, the number of containers left on the docks were cut in half.
He also released 50 million barrels from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve in an attempt to lower gas prices and it's starting to have an effect.

This is a good time to reflect on how horribly Biden has managed his legislative agenda. He and his team miscalculated big time. He and the dems do not have a mandate and do not have broad support for far left policy.
Biden should have focused on physical infrastructure exclusively, maybe a dash of climate, passed it and held that up as his signature legislation. That’s a win.
Instead, he pushes a big social program bill that isn’t broadly supported, loses in embarrassing fashion, and that’s how his presidency is viewed.
Hopefully he and the dems learn. But I doubt it, and that will just make the 2022 correction all the more lopsided.

I own a small business....20 employees in two states. I opened my mail today and all I see are price increase letters from suppliers and fuel surcharge announcements. My employees are seeing help wanted signs with nutty signing bonuses every time they drive down the street. We can't raise our prices fast enough to keep up and every time we do we're fearful of losing market share. People who are on the government tit or who are living on loans as students have no idea where the goods and services they crave come from.....it ain't the government. There are a lot of highly educated people in high places who couldn't provide for themselves apart from the government lifeline if they had to....nor could they pass an Econ 101 introductory test.

The oil companies have thousands and thousands of permits banked so Biden's EO has had zero effect on domestic oil production in 2021. What has affected oil production is that hundreds of domestic oil producing companies went belly up when demand for oil plummeted when Trump shut down the country for covid.

Much of the crap in that bill is not really about the climate, it about paying off large donors. The fine print for the tax credit for EV's says it only applies to EV's that are made in union plants. It's about paying his big union donors under the guise of Climate. For the dems, that would be a monumental payoff to the unions. Not only does it increase business for unions, it effectively is a hit job on non union, primarily red state businesses in the form of a subsidy for unions. I honestly can not believe that is even legal.
