My take: vaccinations are more widely available now with the majority of those who are both eligible and most susceptible to severe reactions to COVID-19 already vaccinated. Additionally, many others who are not susceptible to complications have also been vaccinated with more by the day. The collective reality of both yields a positive path forward without masks or restrictions a la flu season...

... to add to this stance, vaccine efficacy is extremely high to prevent the virus at all but damn near 100% effective in preventing hospitalizations and death. I think we will continue to see restrictions and mask mandates continue to lift over the next several months as more people opt for vaccinations. We will be at 100% capacity in Death Valley this fall.

And just for transparency, I wear a mask every day. The promise of opening everything up is contingent upon people opting into vaccinations. The quicker people opt into that, the quicker everything else will happen... and WE ALL are ready for “normal” To be here again.

Yes sir, well said.

We all have our reasons fo our behaviors, and mine are a wife, an 87 year-old mother, an 88 year-old mother-in-law (all with co-morbidities) and all mean more to me than hanging out in crowded bars or restaurants. I don't enjoy it, but I'll wear the damned mask in the near future.

But, as you alluded to, we have it on the run now. We'll return to normal sooner than later.

Hopefully Florence lets its mandate expire May 7th - there’s no enforcement anyway, except Best Buy apparently...

The "mask ordinances" left in SC are not enforced at all. The individual businesses are doing what they are comfortable with which is how it should have been all along. For the record I do what the business asks me to do. Its their business and I have no issue with obeying their rules. I do it. You can obey their rules or go elsewhere.

Based on my personal experiences, its been this way in SC for most of covid with the main exception being march/april of 2020.

Rock Hill is on the list where they let it expire.

Actually, Rock Hill needs to expire. Shady bag man stories that funnel to SCU. There is a reason I left decades ago. The water tower off Ebenezer used to read 'Rock Hill' with the Hill crossed out and "Hole" now the new slogan. It took a while for it to be painted over. But it was highly appropriate. I used to cackle every time I saw it knowing that in just a few more weeks I would be at Clemson and I would never go back. I've been back 2 times in 35 years. The 10 and 20 reunions. I wasn't going to do the 30, I have no more fracks to give. The Lesslie family murders have thrown me over the top, I despise that dump.

I hate the mask thing and refuse to participate in the BS. The fact that it pisses people off really pisses me off. I saw this idiot chick at QT today get out of her car and put a mask on to pump gas. Nobody within 10-15 feet of her.

And probably took it off without sanitizing it or her hands after and tossed it in her passenger seat

Other people people being pissed makes you extra pissed? How do you go about life being so easily triggered? No flame. I used to be that way and it’s exhausting.

Agreed. My Florence workplace (manufacturing) continues to use the local mandate as justification for mandatory mask wearing. It’s beyond time to let it go.

Wow. Did some chick break your heart in Rock Hill? I've been here most of my life, and it's a great town. It's only getting better too. Sure we have our problems, but what town the size of Rock Hill doesn't?

My favorite is when I see people remove it to sneeze.

ln about half the country, wearing a mask is very clearly a point of pride and clear virtue signaling.

In about half the country, not wearing a mask is very clearly a point of pride and clear virtue signaling.

Talking or writing about how proud you are to wear or not wear a mask seems really pitiful.

I'm fully vaccinated, but my city still has a mandate on businesses, so I'll abide.

Once it expires, I'll still abide by the wishes of each business. I'm just not going to walk past a "Mask Required" sign and disrespect the owner of the establishment like that. FWIW - I see people that do this almost daily, and it doesn't piss me off at all. I may not agree with it, but getting angry with either side is completely childish, and quite frankly is allowing something out-of-our-control to control our happiness. I'm not willing to give another person that power.

Mask wearing is about as useful as wearing a condom while masturbating. Sure it adds a level of protection, but is it really needed?

Why start a thread like this? People complain about the board going to shit and then start threads to watch people argue
Agree, and stopped here.

We on TI actually have more factual evidence to discuss regarding our own observed & perceived notions/opinions about Clemson Football than masks or anything related to Covid.

Just too many 'facts' interpreted one way or another at different points during all this nonsense and all claiming to be right.

At least when watching a game or a play, you generally have most everything available with which to make a reasonable analysis. Of course, you didn't know the play call, or who did/didn't do their job............but at least you observe all the data you can.

Furthermore, there is not quite the obvious 'follow the money' or 'follow the power grab' trail to follow.

Normal?

..........right. Years away, and probably never again.
I'm talking both issues.

I would say everybody is easily triggered about something. Correct? No flame. I’m not easily triggered.
