Heard an Announcer ask Mickey Mantle what would his salary demands be a few years after his retirement when salaries began escalating. Mantle said he didn’t know the amount but he would go to George Steinbrenner’s (Yankee Owner at the time) home and when George came to the door Mantle would stick out his hand and “How are you doing tonight…Partner?”…seriously, what kinda salary would Mantle make in today’s market?
