Earlier this morning I mentioned that Larry received some not so encouraging news on Clemson junior receiver Mike Williams who as you know suffered a neck injury in the east end zone yesterday in the first quarter of play.
Larry picked up an additional return this afternoon that points to not only Williams missing this weekend, but with a return of around late October ... at the earliest.
Williams was taken to Oconee Memorial Hospital in Seneca Saturday afternoon and had movement in his extremities while at the hospital.
We expect some additional clarity and color on Williams' status from Dabo Swinney later this evening on his 6 p.m. teleconference.
To belabor the obvious a couple of freshmen have been backing Williams on the depth chart; red-shirt freshman Trevion Thompson, a former four-star prospect, and true freshman Deon Cain, a former five-star.
This marks the third significant personnel loss for Clemson in as many weeks, which includes D.J. Reader, the top defensive tackle on the roster, and 2014 SAM backer - nickel back starter Korrin Wiggins who suffered a torn ACL in camp.
