To search some historians who have written about Union League or Loyal League you may want to check writings by Michael Fitzgerald, Phyllis Field or Mike Scruggs. Other excellent authors regarding Civil War are James McPherson, John Keegan, Stephen Sears, Gordon Rhea, Douglas S. Freeman and of course, Shelby Foote (my favorite). Good luck with your search.
