Mole problems

My front yard looks amazing this time of year, but my backyard has been ravaged by moles over the winter.

Seeing as how this is probably a year round treatment thing, what do I need to do? Is it a grub problem? Something else?

And for the juveniles among us, it’s not this kind:

If you don't have dogs they make a poison tablet that you can leave in their tunnels. You can also have someone gas the tunnels or trap them.

Cannot find a good solution but I was suggested this recently

Moles are meat eaters and love ground crickets and earth worms so the suggestion was to soak beef jerky sticks in antifreeze and poke them in tunnels

The antifreeze is sweet to go with meat taste of jerky

Antifreeze in hamburger is a easy way to poison any meat eating cat or dog or wild animal

Crazy idea that might work however it is dangerous for pets

This all day.....especially the outdoor part. I found a litter of kittens on the trail I run on. We kept two and they keep my yard and all of my neighbors yards mole free. The only problem is they have learned to use the doggie door and now they bring us presents in the house. We have had bugs, lizards, moles, birds, bats, and my wife’s all time favorite, snakes in the house. Some of the lizards, moles, birds, and snakes have been alive. Just last week my daughter came home from school to a Robin flying around the house. Needless to say I have some excellent hunters on my hands.

This will kill all of the grubs, which the moles are after. You can also spray it in your trees to kill the skeeters.

I have a dog that has killed a few moles among other critters..... Son of bitch brought a rat...... not a mouse...... a rat inside last Friday night..... at least it was dead

I had this same problem recently. A friend of mine is a landscaper and he said it's pretty simple. They eat grubs, crickets, and other small insects in the soil. Get rid of their food and they will go away.

So I did an experiment. I never had moles in the front yard. Just the back. Really really bad in the back. So I put out "Seven Insect Killer". In about 3 days I had dead white grubs come to the surface. After about a week no more moles. Gone without a trace. Then they appeared in the front yard for the first time ever. Did the same thing there and same results. That was 3 months ago. I just reapplied the entire lawn.

All I did was spread it out. 10 bucks and problem solved. Won't hurt the grass either.

I use poison worms I buy at Lowes. The only problem is that you can never be sure you killed them. I have also used a pest control company, but they charge $150 per dead mole. But, they show you the dead mole. The best thing is to have a King Snake in your yard. And I did, but he or she died last year. I miss that snake...

Typically a pro will take away their food source, then use traps to kill them. That is what I do at home.

Grub-Ex over the entire lawn to get rid of the grubs. The side-effect of the fire ant spraying or granular product tends to remove most insects from the lawn, same chemical that you use in most home bug sprays.

Then you buy a few traps, find the main tunnel by poking a hole in it, if the hole is filled the next day, that is probably his main runner. Then set traps all along the main tunnels until you kill the bastard.

A female that has been fixed. Ours drops small animals in the pool and watches them drown.

Get a pack of juicy fruit. Break the sticks in half and input them in the mole trenches in various locations. Sounds crazy but I've seen it work in my own yard.

I own a pest control company. The bait is called Taiprid. It looks like gummy worms. Take a few of their runs, use a screwdriver to open a small hole in the top. Stick a worm all the way into the run, then re-cover the hole with dirt. Mark the spots with landscaping flags. Come back a couple of days later. If the worms are gone, they’ve been eaten. Problem solved. If not, pull them out and try another run. It’ll work.
