Fun with photos after Clemson’s opening practice:
One college practice in at his new position, there should be ups and downs for Deon Cain. Nothing that happens this month will change our outlook that the “New WRU,” as Clemson brands it, is in good hands for the future.
Who was asking the identity of Clemson’s best wildcat quarterback option?
=================================================================
Forget the talk of five-star freshman defensive tackle Christian Wilkins playing defensive end out of need. How agile is he? Brent Venables is ready to put him at linebacker (just kidding of course, but compelling to see how fluid he moves compared to others at his position in this drill)
=================================================================
Clelin Ferrell will, however, stand up in his stance if he sticks at the weak-side end position as we expect.
=================================================================
Austin Bryant in March 2014, and Bryant yesterday – the reason you can’t get too wrapped up in a prospect’s weight in high school.
=================================================================
Not to name names, but Clemson used to send a guy in motion who was not a real threat to do any danger on a sweep. It shouldn't have that depth issue at the 2-receiver position any longer.
=================================================================
One thing I’ve always wanted to ask Kelly Bryant: Why does he appear to grip the ball so close to the end?
=================================================================
Don’t know what’s going on with Jake Fruhmorgen’s helmet. But the loose fit makes it incredibly difficult to get a quality face shot. Moreover, can he even see?
=================================================================
For comparison’s sake, Tanner Muse sandwiched between Amir Trapp and Cordrea Tankersley.
=================================================================
You could produce a very entertaining reality show by following Brent Venables throughout a practice. The facial expressions captured on film often can’t be used because they would require some context.
=================================================================
Token Milan Richard pic. Just because I remain convinced he’s going to be really good.

MOAR FRESHMAN PHOTOS
Garrett Williams (right) next to redshirt freshman tight end Cannon Smith, who continues to generate favorable reviews for improving his body
Noah Green showing that the trend of, er, gutsy offensive linemen at Clemson is changing (although it bears noting the majority wear 3XL practice jerseys)
Albert Huggins carries 286 pretty well.
Mark Fields
Tanner Muse
