That's a good idea. If he isn't one, she might beat him up. And if she beats him up really badly, she knows how to do surgery on his brain to fix the damage.
I mean you can’t just google rosters of the teams….not really something the US wants people to be able to verify…

My son is involved with his daughter. He tells everyone he was a Navy Seal. There have been some issues. I have heard from a few people that he’s a big liar and wasn’t a Seal.
I know he’s not one. I want to prove it. I need that info for something that’s been going on. There is something wrong with someone who lies about that. What’s that called? Stolen valor? Freedom of information act? Surely a way to find out.

Odds are they are NOT A NAVY SEAL
People in many positions are best left un doxxed
Will ask around as usually that info of names and postings are not available to the public
I'm going to throw you a brain bone, Amy. When someone is constantly bringing up something like that, even when nobody asked, they're lying. And it isn't limited to stolen valor. A lot of people just constantly bring up their job that they definitely don't have.

It’s called stolen valor. FOIA requests aren’t going to get you anywhere on this. They generally don’t go around telling everyone. That in and of itself leads me to believe it’s bullshit. I mean I can find out if I have the guy’s name, but based on what you’ve said, i think that’s probably unnecessary. Also probably not going to provide proof of anything.
I never served but worked both CONUS and OCONUS on every branch of service along with visiting almost a thousand US military installations along with numerous overseas.

The SEALS I think had a designation or pin.
I will try and ask around my old friends but my contacts are 8 to 10 years old since I retired.

You can do a FOIA request, but the issue is that you would need a SSN as well as the name. I think there was also a guy (Former SEAL) that had a thing for busting posers and supposedly had access to a list. Maybe if you sit down and do a bunch of googling you might be able to find more info or find a forum with people closer to that community. The problem is that the amount of friends son's sisters boyfriends claiming to be a SEAL or a Green Beret is astronomical. Even guys who like to out fakers really only get super motivated if there is some sort of larger fraud involved than a guy making up stories to get in a girl's pants .
Imagine saying others have a miserable life when you’re spending all this time to see if you can prove that someone wasn’t a navy seal
