Figured I'd start this over here, to try and help Ard out a little, on the board cleanup end.

@jmed99, @Cabotiger, other outdoor chefs GITT and help a brother out. I need a good meat thermometer for the grills/smokers. I've looked, but there are so many mixed reviews out there, I figured I'd ask people I trust.

I have been through so many thermometers over the years that I really don't have a favorite and as the time has gone on I've developed a "sense" of when something is done.
I have an iGrill mini that is still in the box however I do know that most of mine have come from Update brand and have been reliable.
What are you cooking?

You sound like me (I have an iGrill mini still in the box), have been through so many.

I'm looking for a general use that I can insert in something in the smoker, periodically check, and be reasonably assured that it's accurate.

Does that make sense?

Thermapen makes some very high quality thermometers. Check out their website. Their stuff is built to last and better put together than anything on the market.

Got it. This is what I used when I had the BBQ Restaurant and it's "fool" proof so it was made just for me.

I had a Digiq that was awesome and always stayed at 225f for my Shoulders/ribs
