My wife and I are planning to stay in Charlotte the Thursday night before the Clemson vs. Notre Dame weekend (coming from DC area) and Raleigh on Sunday to split up the drive. It just so happens to be our one year anniversary that weekend, so I would like to make the stops in Charlotte and Raleigh as enjoyable as possible for her since she is willing to go to a Clemson game on our first anniversary.
What is a reasonably priced hotel in a good location for Charlotte? Ideally we would wake up Friday morning and walk around the town for her to check out some shops and then get breakfast/lunch somewhere awesome before heading to Clemson.
Same question for Raleigh. Any specific hotel we should stay at where we could enjoy the town Sunday evening and be able to walk back to the hotel? Any specific places we should go in Raleigh?
