Am I the only one who thinks that this new era of 'pay for play" and what basically amounts to yearly free agency has killed Clemson's ability to be a yearly national championship contender?
I love the way that Dabo runs his program. I feel like college should be about learning to become an adult and handle becoming a professional at whatever profession you chose(should it be sports or some other occupation). We had an amazing 6 year run that all fan bases other than Alabama should be jealous of. But I feel like most offensive skill players coming out of high school or blowing up at lesser levels or so called lower tier schools are looking for big paydays.
Our administration has shown that they are not willing to play that game and I applaud them for that. But Dabo's hiring of Garrett Riley seems to show that he knows Clemson can't out talent anyone on offense anymore and needs a system to do it.
Once again I'm not complaining. I wouldn't trade Dabo and the way he does things for any other coach in football. I just believe that NIL and transfer portal have destroyed our ability to be perennial year in and year out national championship contenders
