On Saturday, Gilbert traveled up with his mother to Clemson and saw the A&M game. Next weekend (Sept 21), he will be in College Station to see the Aggies on his second official visit.

On this visit to Clemson, here are some quotes from Gilbert:

"Usually I just go to games, then head back, but this time, I spent some time with the coaches at Clemson and I hung out some with tight end Braden Galloway.

"I talked to coach Swinney, coach Streeter — really the entire coaching staff. It usually pretty casual with them, and it was this time too, but they do throw a few 'All Ins' and 'come join the program' in there.

"I just hung out with Braden some to find out more about Clemson. It was cool talking with him and hearing what he had to say. It was really nothing new for me, but it was good to hang out with a player.

"I talked with the coaches about an official visit, and I will be taking one to Clemson, but the date still hasn't been set yet. They have really come back hard on me. There was a some time we did not talk too much, but they are recruiting me as hard as anyone right now.

"It is not just the coaches I am talking to either — I am talking to DJ, Kevin [Swint], Myles and some of the other commits too. Those are great guys and so are the coaches there.

"If I had to say one main reason why Clemson is one of my top schools, it would be coach Swinney, and the way he runs the program. He just does things the right way. Everyone is family there and that is great."

Gilbert talked about the game some and said Clemson played well, but not great. He thought A&M would play better too.

My thoughts: This is CLOSE... Bama has the edge still, based on what I am hearing, but Clemson is surging here. All this I said in my piece Friday, but Clemson has become a true contender again in this race. Georgia and Tennessee are in this too.
