Seems to be forgotten that we went to Afghanistan because we were not going to allow the Taliban to shelter Al Qaeda. Maintaining a base in Afghanistan and a presence there would have helped us to deal with the threats as they arose over time.
Now we have a big nothing and Al-Qaeda prisoners have been released and we aren't even prepared to evacuate our own people. There's no defending what is indefensible. That people are even trying to pay politics with this shows such a staggering lack of character it's hard to know where to begin. This is a giant embarrassment and a complete cluster. We should be better than this and it just further demonstrates the lows to which our country has sunk.

The choice this time was no choice at all. I voted for President Trump but I don't support president Trump. He was the lesser of two evils. When you have a choice between a walking dead person who is corrupt as hell in a narcissistic pig who thinks he hung the Moon it's not a very pleasant vote. But it's also an easy choice.
An adult and reasoned perspective. I voted for Trump the first time to do just what he did. I wanted another 4 years of his foreign policy and to avoid the democrat jackassery that we are experiencing now so I voted for him again.

The 75,000 Taliban just grew to 375,000 Taliban minus the ones that managed to flee the country. Anyone else will pledge loyalty or die. The border is about as open as our southern one so terrorists with an interest in war are now flooding into a military training ground for bad people totally uninhibited by a government we can pressure or sanction to death.
The Taliban and Al Qaeda are well known for ruthlessness when it comes to torture, rape and murder. Any woman that taught in an American built school will be stoned and any little girl that attended, likely raped and potentially turned into slaves. Any military aged male either has the choice to join up and fight or will die a pretty horrible death along with their families.

I don't disagree, but just want to point out that two VERY different administrations came to the same conclusion that it was in our best interest to pull out. It is a tragedy no doubt what is going to happen to those people.
