JERUSALEM — The KGB has adopted novel, brutal and apparently effective methods of dealing with terrorists who attack Soviet interests in the Middle East, an Israeli newspaper reported Monday.

The Jerusalem Post said the Soviet secret police last year secured the release of three kidnaped Soviet diplomats in Beirut by castrating a relative of a radical Lebanese Shia Muslim leader, sending him the severed organs and then shooting the relative in the head.

The incident began when four Soviet diplomats were kidnaped last September by Muslim extremists who demanded that Moscow pressure the Syrian government to stop pro-Syrian militiamen from shelling rival Muslim positions in the northern Lebanese city of Tripoli.

The militiamen, the Jerusalem paper said, did not cease their attacks, and the body of one of the Soviet diplomats, Arkady Katkov, was found a few days later in a field in Beirut.

The KGB then apparently kidnaped and killed a relative of an unnamed leader of the Shias' Hezbollah (Party of God) group, a radical, pro-Iranian group that has been suspected of various terrorist activities against Western targets in Lebanon.

Parts of the man's body, the paper said, were then sent to the Hezbollah leader with a warning that he would lose other relatives in a similar fashion if the three remaining Soviet diplomats were not immediately released. They were quickly freed.

The newspaper quoted "observers in Jerusalem" as saying: "This is the way the Soviets operate. They do things--they don't talk. And this is the language Hezbollah understands."

Six Americans, missing for up to two years, are presumed to be kidnaping victims in Lebanon.

Unfortunately this is the only language they (Radical Islam) understand, and until the world figures this out we will continue to have terror acts committed by these nut jobs. Also, It will be interesting to watch and see if the number of incidents against Russia go down and/or cease as a result of this action!

Did the Soviets win in Afganistan?

Hypothetical - Say it was 3 U.S. Diplomats kidnapped and Hillary is POTUS.

What does Hillary do?

This happened 30 years ago.

this post has nothing to do when it occurred.

its about the proper decision making when dealing with the human nature of other cultures.

compassion is an honorable stance.

but when dealing with nature, one must respect that nature and answer its calling with truisms.

time and time again, points are brought up and those that stand on soft ground try to redirect from the truth.

hillary will do what is in the best interest for hillary's purse.

but she will speak with a difference message.

she hides her evil well, she has been trained well.

her house is crumbling before her bones.

she will crack like dripping an egg on concrete.

she stands for nothing beyond herself.

It probably never happened since there is no article in the JPost archives from that time period, and there are no citations within the LAtimes article that looks like the original source.

For some reason, the article is reposted once a year on blogs and people lose their shit over it.

Two entirely different organizations. ISIS is chaotic, and virtually headless. They don't care about anyone or anything on this Earth. You can't negotiate with guerrilla warfare whose objective is to destroy everything. Can you stop mass shootings by rounding up mentally ill people and holding them hostage?

again you show your lack of understanding of human nature.

american liberalism taught in our schools has weakened our strength.

this is why our country is slowly decaying into obscurity.

just as the romans, as well as, many great civilizations.

their light will eventually burn out when they loose touch with human nature.

thinking that we ride on clouds, better than those below us, only make them look up at us, as the clouds dissipate and we fall back to the earth.

Now that you mention that, I think I remember this article showing in r/forwardsfromgrandma a couple years ago, lol. Naturally, it was an image screenshot of text, too.

This is a wordy way to say you disagree with me and offer no specific answer.

-two entirely different ofrganizations- chaos and headless

war is chaos, all war is chaos. defining the root of war without chaos does not exist.
all organizations have leaders. kill the leader of either, a new one grows. it does not kill the spirit of the war.
no idea why you say ISIS has no head. you ask for an answer to a question that shouldnt have to be asked.

-they dont care about anyone or anything on earth.

if they didnt, would they be fighting. if the west was not on their soil interfering with their lives, would they be so determined to rid the world of the west?
if they had the resources to come to america, set up bases, patrol our streets, would americans stand idly by and submit to the invaders? or would america find a way to fight with the resources available?

-can you stop mass shootings by rounding up the mentally ill people and hold them hostage?
this question you pose, attempts to mask the heart of the discussion by deflection from the point.
are they really mentally ill? or are they disgruntled and frustrated with reality that it hurts so much that they lash out at society? only the minds of those who engage in such actions knows the truth to their cause.

Yes, of course war is chaotic. What I mean is, this isn't a structured enemy where you can kidnap and torture a nephew of the <insert current leader> and expect anything to happen. Your original post was to draw parallels here for solutions. Clearly, your post was to make some nebulous point about "being tougher".

They can kill and torture, then die, and believe they're going to a better place afterwards. That's a pretty unique religious view right there. Their original plan to establish a caliphate in Syria and Iraq has already crumbled. They are as weak as they've ever been and losing virtually every front in those regions. Now, they're executing random attacks, abroad, out of desperation to recruit foreign fighters. I hate reading about each attack as much as you do. It won't end tomorrow, but it won't continue forever, either. And, yes, I also believe that interfering with their lives on their soil was a catalyst. It's easier to sell someone to fight for a cause when they have a tangible enemy.

I brought up mass shootings, because I don't believe you can stop them anymore than you can stop random terrorist attacks by simply taking a tougher stance on it.
