Before he moved into administration. Best, most interesting professor/teacher that I ever had. Had him for History 101 my freshman year. Great sense of humor along with knowledge and how to make the course interesting. Funny guy, only my ROTC teacher was even close in the humor area. Everybody wanted to have a Professor Reel course. Only course that I NEVER cut. Too bad all teachers can't make their class interesting like that.

Since he moved up, he has been a great ambassador for Clemson, including writing the history of Clemson University book. Jerry Reel IS Clemson.

I didn't have him for history but he was the advisor for my fraternity back in the late 80's. At that point he was the Vice Provost I believe.......he was also the Naional historian for the fraternity. He was a nice man with a pretty good sense of humor.

Never met him. There's a relatively young history professor there now named Amit Bein who is awesome...he's an Israeli guy who teachers middle eastern history but loves football and the patriots. Hearing him talk about tom brady in his accent cracked me up.

Took his Clemson History class in my last semester - spring of 2013. Actually, I ended up dropping the class a couple weeks in, but kept going all semester. I didn't need or want the credit hour, and didn't want to bother with the grade. I just wanted to hear the stories. Every day in there was a gold mine. Wish those lectures were available to listen to again somewhere.

Had him back in the early 70's. Definitely one you remember.

Most memorable for me was Bruce Yandle, head of the Economics Department.

I took Dr. Reel's class in late 68 ! Wow what a great guy and teacher ! He sure has been around a long time ! I also had Dr. Yandle and he had a great influence on me and we remain friends still . Also had Ben Skardon . Clemson had some great professors while I was there !

I had him in 2010 for History 101. Amazing class. We had people that did the same as @Kbouch. Just attended as many lectures as they could whether they were in the class or not. Took that class for granted as it went by way too fast, wish I could go back and listen to him for another semester.

Yandle. Wow. That's someone I haven't thought of since I left Clemson. Great man who was kind enough to get to know me and write me a rec when I was applying to Clemson.

I was in the same fraternity (2012 grad), and dealt with Dr. Reel a lot. If you ever needed anything, he'd meet with you and listen and help out if he could. He'd invite us to church and breakfast occasionally. Really sharp guy. Incredibly interesting to talk to. He could talk about nearly any subject you could think of. He is a great ambassador for the university, and a great all around man. I feel like I owe that family a lot for all the help they gave me during my time at Clemson. Can't say enough about them.

Who had Dr. John(The Medicine Man)Wannamaker for Accounting? He was one tough prof. Actually,
I had Dr. JR Salley for two Chemistry courses. I passed which many did not. Learned a lot of Chemistry though.

I was a University Tour Guide so we had to take his history of Clemson class. Amazing guy

Anyone recall Frank Day? Was chair of the English dept. Big guy and a former Marine from Maine who kept his NE accent. Great guy full of personality.
