Was actually gonna start a thread on this. @24TIGER is this pretty much on par for what you would expect?

makes perfect sense to me considering Biden has already had SS protection before.

@24TIGER
Looks like your country needs you. Any desire to go back to your old job?

#1 ABSOLUTELY not. 27 years is enough. Good luck to my former colleagues and friends.

#2 Makes sense. I’m sure many of the “shift” agents will come back in supervisory roles. There are many highly qualified individuals that served on “Celtic’s” detail over the course of eight plus years. Once again, good luck to them all. It’s not an easy assignment, no matter who the protectee is.

I posted this video recently. It’s worth another look for those that have not seen it. I’m the agent to the rear of VP Biden, shaved noggin, dark blue coat. 2013. An honor to serve, don’t miss it now. BillyD

Good stuff. What are some of the big challenges?

You should do an ama! It’s definitely a tough job. 99.9 percent is a big fail. 100% is the only option for success. That’s just unreal.

Im sure you’re familiar with this:https://www.hsdl.org/c/president-clinton-nearly-assassinated-by-osama-bin-laden/

Any unclassified details I can read about?

Is it true that we keep a seal team at the ready and nearby on overseas trips?

Billy D thank you for your service to our country. I know you are a Republican, but I know that didn't change how you performed your job as you would have taken a bullet for Joe Biden or any other political figure, regardless of party, for whom you were assigned to protect. You served your country honorably and as a true professional. Much respect sir! Happy New Year to you and your family!

Thanks @JAMCRACKER99 Yep. Regardless of political affiliation, our job is to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. And truth be told, I really liked all the USSS protectees that I was assigned to on a permanent basis. To include Bill Clinton, Doro (Bush) Koch, L. Paul Bremer, Hillary Rodham Clinton, Mitt Romney and Joe Biden. I did temporary assignments on all of the Presidents and former Presidents from Jimmy Carter through Barack Obama and multiple foreign dignitaries to include Queen Elizabeth and King Juan Carlos of Spain.

In total transparency, the majority of USSS agents lean to the conservative side, as we are federal law enforcement. Just the nature of the beast. But it NEVER interferes with the the mission. The mission is sacred. Enough of that.

Go Tigers!! All the way!! BillyD #24

24-7 coverage of the POTUS and VPOTUS and their families is taxing to say the least. The necessity to move POTUS and VPOTUS to a safe location in the event of a National Emergency drives everything that the USSS does.

That scenario is rehearsed constantly, by all entities involved. It’s a well oiled machine. You go to work everyday with a “doomsday scenario” mindset. That will wear you down. It did it to me.
I was a counterterrorism operator, Team Leader, or manager of the Counter Assault Team program for almost a decade. That too...is very intense. Exhilarating, but long term exhausting.

As far as overseas military support, there are plans in place. I’m sure that’s not surprising, it shouldn’t be. But that’s all I can say about that question. Sorry. I’m certain you understand. Best to you.

What do you think about the scenario that is shaping up in DC on and around next week(1/6) related to possible problems associated with so many citizens on opposite ends of the spectrum coming together related to counting of the electoral votes? Thanks for your service!

I would imagine that would be very taxing mentally, having to constantly focus on and prepare for the worst possible scenarios. I’d bet burn out is common but its vital to our country, thanks for your service!
