I was recently in a wreck where I was at no fault. The car has been repaired, but I know that I will have diminished Value to my vehicle when I go to trade it or sale it in the future. I have filed a claim, but the insurance company is saying that I need to provide documentation showing the loss in value.

Has anyone here done this before?

Generally they want offer it if your car is more than 3 years old. Then they will run a calculation based on 3 years or less, mileage, and damage to make you an offer. Many people will tell you 10% of the damage not the case. When they say prove it, it sounds like more to the story than what you have given.

The State of SC has no diminished value law, so technically insurance companies in SC do not have to offer anything.

I generally offer 10% of estimate if the vehicle is less than 3 years old and no more than 35k miles on it.

Thanks for the replies. The Insurance company has suggested I go to a dealership for a statement that my vehicle has less value due to the wreck. I just wonder2d if anyone knew if a dealership would do this?
