OT: F-150 Diesel with pics

Jesus. I bought my Tacoma in 2016 and I only have 25k on it. Where are you driving yours every day?

Similar to OP. Sales related travel in the construction industry. I cover all SC and a couple counties each in GA and NC. Plus I live in the sticks. But for example. Last week I was in Charleston, Orangeburg, Columbia, Greenville, Seneca, Florence, Gastonia (NC), Darlington, Rock Hill, Myrtle Beach, Clemson, Columbia, York.

In that order... because besiness dictated. Just looking back at the expense report. to put that together.

1,684 miles last week. That's a high week, for sure. But its almost always over 1,000.

(Not sure why this needed to be moved to Round Table the first time, but whatevs. Posting again for those that were interested.)

Not gonna lie... most badass thing I've ever owned.

Got 23mpg from Winder, GA to Simpsonville, SC. Plenty of power. Rides like a dream. More bells and whistles than I actually know what to do with. So quiet, you would never believe it's a diesel.

Business partner pulled his boat yesterday from TR to Keowee and never dropped below 21 mpg.

Congrats on your purchase.

When that dpf gets clogged up about 100k miles from now you’ll get to delete all that emissions garbage and your mileage will go up considerably. The only trouble I’ve ever had with my 16 F250 was the regeneration process cleaning the exhaust filter. I guarantee you will eventually have trouble with the same thing if you have it long enough. Still love the power stroke over everything else though.

Heard on the radio a couple days ago here in Texas...for the first time, GM sold more Trucks in Texas than Ford. The trucks keep getting better looking.

Personally, I prefer the shifter by my side vs on the column.

He said he couldn't even tell the boat was back there. Drove great, no jumping gears, and easily ran 65 with it. RPM's stayed 1200-1300 the whole time. He said it towed it much smoother and easier than his V8 2010 F150.

Man that's exactly what I was hoping to hear. I guess...now you are making me want one. I tow my boat every single weekend year round, with most being 2.5 to 3 hours round trip. Going from 10MPG towing to close to 20MPG starts to add up fast.

I'm real interested in the smaller diesel trucks.

I have my truck paid off so ill probably drive it for several more years but my next truck will probably be the diesel F150.

Is the frame and bed capacity increased? The towing will be awesome for sure.

its crazy over here is Europe you see these guys towing boats, trailers and all types of larger scale tows with diesel sedans and those smaller diesel SUVs. Its common use for those diesel engine vehicles.

Generally agree, however, I have the chrome package on it. Chrome bumper, side mirrors, running boards, etc. Not sure how the black will look with that.

It looks good IMO. I have the chrome package on my F-150 and I still use a black toolbox. The black doesn't jut up to any of the chrome on the truck so nothing clashes. I just like the way the black looks.....muted and low profile.

Don't get lost in MPG. A truck that gets 23 MPG to one that gets 18 MPG for 150,000 total miles over 7 years, you save roughly $600 a year. Its not nothing but it also isn't enough to keep me from buying something with less MPG than I like the looks of or brand of better. I wouldn't own a Ford becaUse I grew up in the Fix Or Repair Daily days. I also don't have a day to day use for a truck so I stick with the SUV. I do want to get an old beater truck for random errands and such but I am in a pool with 100,000 other people so there isn't anything worth a crap out there on the market.

How heavy was the boat was towed at that MPG? It’s niiiiice, I like!!!

Also, FYI for those interested...

I've never seen a dealership as big as Akins Ford in Winder, GA. They promised us a better price than anyone else, and they are making some sweet deals on the gas ones, too. Have two other employees who have bought from them this year, and they are ultra aggressive with the price. One of the top Ford dealerships in the SE.

Yeah Akins is awesome. Did you pay Georgia or sc taxes?

Yeah we pulled a 26 Regulator from Chs to Islamorada a few years ago with an F250 diesel and you could barely feel the boat back there.

I’ve got a 2017 Tundra Platinum but i don’t really need a truck for hauling anything expect maybe a bay boat about 2 Miles.

Diesel's are great. Put 250k miles on a 7.3 Powerstroke. But since I don't tow much anymore, this will be my next truck...

http://www.foxnews.com/auto/2018/07/26/raptor-powered-ford-f-150-limited-coming-for-2019.html

The 2019 Ford F-150 Limited is getting a higher limit.

The top of the line truck is swapping its 375 horsepower twin-turbo V6 for the 450 hp version from the high performance F-150 Raptor, currently the most powerful in the light-duty pickup class.

Way to move the needle from the conversation at hand.
The guys talking MPG in this thread will run that 150k miles in 3 years.
Thats' $4,500 (at 2.50 gallon) spread over 3 years or $1,500 year. Or just over $100 month.

Not everyone in this thread is a outside sales guy. It was more of a point of comparison. Dont buy something you aren't sold on because it gets a few more miles to the gallon. Unless you are a road warrior go with what you like.

I test drove the 2018 F-150 Lariat 3.0L Power Stroke Diesel and the 2018 F-250 Super Duty Lariat 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel back-to-back. For reference, I currently have a 2011 Tundra Crewmax 5.7L V8 Gas.

The F-150 interior is top of the line, probably the best truck I have ever sat in. I thought the F-150 interior was better than the F-250, but there aren't many differences. The F-150 diesel is very quite; a few times I wasn't sure it was running. The power and acceleration of the F-150 on the interstate and ramps felt less than my Tundra, even though the F-150 was a "turbo". The F-250 is a different story. Interestingly, the sticker on the F-150 was $65k and the sticker on the F-250 was only $67k. You get a lot more truck for $2k with F-250. Ford is very proud of their F-150s. I am considering both trucks, but I am not sure I can go from the 5.7L V8 down to the 3.0L diesel; the engine definitely felt smaller than my Tundra. I am going to let my wife ride in the F-250 and see what happens.

My 2015 F250 only gets 13.7 mpg. And it only has a 25 gallon tank thanks to the damn DEF. That would be the only complaints I have with the truck though. I've put a little over 70k on it and haven't had the first problem

You’re probably at a gas station for the fourth time this week.

You following me around bruh?

You're right though...that's my only complaint about the Tundras. They haven't figured out the eco tech yet for their i-force v8, so the gas mileage sucks ass.

On top of that, I have the crew cab which has a smaller gas tank (around 22 gallons)...so I literally do feel like I'm at the gas station all the time.

Good thing is that I only drive it on the weekends to pull the boat, so it doesn't bother me too bad.

@shortbus22 how is the 3.0L diesel operating and how many miles on the truck now?
No complaints. Getting basically 24 mpg average. About 26k in it so far iirc. Having a shitty issue with the CarPlay/maps for the last week, but will try to get them to fix it at my next oil change/tire rotation. Otherwise, it’s been awesome. Definite convo starter. Have people come up constantly asking about it who haven’t seen the f150 diesel.

I heard they are gonna extend the engine through the XLT package next year. Drops the price considerably. We had to get the Lariat to get that engine. Will likely lead to a bunch more on the road iyam.
