My wife got a bill from PayPal Credit last week...she doesn't have a PayPal Credit account. Luckily we caught it early and the balance was only around $2k, it's a pain in the butt, but we aren't going to have to fight too hard to get the charges removed. We filed a police report, put a fraud alert and freeze on our credit, closed and reopened all of our existing accounts. I had been thinking of buying life lock or some other form of fraud insurance lately, my procrastination cost me, but I'll probably go ahead and get it now.
A friend of ours was notified by his accountant last week that his tax return was denied, and it was more than likely due to somebody already filing using his ID. The accountant told him that he had had a bunch of clients in the same boat this year.
Anybody else?
