I’ve worked in the private sector my entire life. After Obamacare the insurance provided by the companies I worked for was terrible in comparison to what I was getting prior to that legislation. Fast forward a few years and now most of us in the private sector are now carrying high deductible plans that cover nothing. My question is this: do you tell your doctors office you are self pay and pay cash for your services or do you have them file with your insurance even though it won’t cover anything until you’ve hit a deductible? I’m my case, barring something crazy I will not be spending $3000 at my doctor this year (my deductible). Also almost all offices offer substantial savings to cash pay patients, they will bill insurance 2-4x what they’re wanting to get paid, then when insurance doesn’t pay you’re stuck with that bill.
