I just thought I'd reach out to the community here to see if there was anyone who by chance is in or knows anyone in the Spartanburg Sheriff's office or city police who might be willing to help. I plan to go there Monday and thought I'd reach out here first to see what help if any I could receive. I have a situation where Friday, I purchased an iPhone second hand. When I checked it out, it had a clean ESN and was fine to use. However, from the time I drove home, backed up my old phone, and set up the new phone, the individual called and reported it stolen. Which in turn left that device unusable for Verizon. I think he is running a scam where he gets the money, reports it stolen, gets a new device and then repeats the process. I have all the details of the person (place of work, name, etc). I was just curious if there was anyone who would be willing to go in uniform to his house/place of work and lay out the potential criminal charges stemming from this. Ultimately, I don't want to have to bog down the court system with it. I just want him to call into Verizon and have him remove the device from the lost/stolen list. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
