My dad has had a jack russell for over 18 years... My dad is 90 years old... Last time the dog went to the vet they told us it was terminal, but Dad wouldn't put him down... So here it is a year later.... The dog has no quality of life whatsoever... He has mange and mites and can't control his body functions... Horrible, just horrible... Believe me, we have tried to talk to my dad about this, but to no avail... Dad say's when the dog's ready to go, he will die in his sleep

I also have some unique circumstances... My parents live 40 miles from a vet... The dog can no longer tolerate being picked up or handled... The vet wants $400 to come out and euthanize, and the dog cannot be humanely carried to the vet... And furthermore, my dad will not allow it....

The $400 would be hard to come by, right now, my dad would never forgive me and the whole thing is just a mess... My question to you guys is this... Would I be a horrible person to give the dog a steak dinner, have my Mom take Dad off for a while, and shoot the dog with a clean quick shot through the brain ?? Then bury the dog and tell Dad he died in his sleep ?? I've thought about poison, strangulation, human oxycodone dose, but I do NOT want the dog to suffer in any way....

You guys always have great advice, and I am really in need of some guidance...

TIA
