What's a better product for killing weeds than roundup? I find that it takes 5+ days to see any results, and it's 2018 -- I need results NOW! Maybe something a tier down from Agent Orange?

Sprayed part of my yard yesterday. I had a enough Spectracide grass killer for one sprayer full; that grass looked dead today. The rest was sprayed with Roundup Pro and looks wilted.

The roundup is slow but I guarantee that all grass (except for Bermuda) will be gone in around 2 weeks or less.

what kills vinca? I've put roundup and ground clear all over it an it doesn't do anything

Celsius is a wonderful product but it is expensive.
it is expensive to buy the first time but buy it off Amazon and in the long run your yard will look better and it will actually be cheaper then buying anything from the store over and over.

Along these lines, anyone use products for controlling lawn weeds that aren’t suspected of causing cancer? Wife is into the EWG recommendations and as such, Roundup is out. Just looking for a way to reconcile her want for a nontoxic approach and my need to kill the bastards.

Depends on type of grass. Celsius is very good on all grasses and I use it a lot in my business. Quinclorac is good for crabgrass and other weeds but can’t be used on Centipede and St. Augustine. Katana is good for everything except St. Augustine. Sedgehammer is good for nutsedge. Preemerge 2x in fall and 2x in spring. You shouldn’t have many weeds

Preemerge in the fall? I have tall fescue in Greenville and this will be my first fall taking care of it. I was just going to do an aeration, overseeing and put some fertilizer down. When should I do the preemerge in relation to all of that?

Quikpro. Combination of Roundup and Diquat

Is this the stuff you're talking about?

Yes sir. As with any herbicide you must add a surfactant to the mix. This is a product that allows the chemical to stick to the leaf surface. Dish soap works

Is there a ratio for the amount of dish soap, or just put in like 1 oz per gallon?

Keep in mind that roundup and other herbicides work best when weeds are actively growing. If it gets dry for a few days and the weeks look parched, it is not as effective. Dish soap does work, but I've found that real surfactants work much better.

I sprayed cheap glyphosphate (about 100 gallons worth at 3/oz per gallon) on a variety of stuff at my farm two weeks ago today. Everything was yellow by that weekend and is dead now.

If I don't have real surfactant, I give a bottle of Dawn a good squeeze for about a second in my 16 gallon tank after it's full. Then shake it up. This helps reduce suds.

Any combo of Glyphosate and Diquat should kill any living plant pretty fast.

Problem with roundup for sale in premixed bottles is that they mix it weakly, so it works slow. Buy the concentrate bottles and mix it 2x or more of the recommended strength as I do.

Apply preemergent 6-8 weeks after seeding the fescue.

Thank you, all.

Did pre-emergent this year, but the crabgrass is just out of control in our Bermuda. It's in the turf, the stones around the pool area, dog pin, everywhere.

You really have to apply it twice. Once in February and again by mid-may, because the first pre application will have worn itself out by the time the late-germinating stuff starts up. I only plan for most pre to last 60-90 days, depends what chemical it is.

I'm thinking this is what got us - only applying once. Had a friend spray the yard for us (who's in landscaping), and we only did it once because he moved to Texas for work shortly after spraying our property. Seemed like the crabgrass supercharged, as the heat intensified.

We'll definitely be prepared to spray twice, next year. As of now, I'm just trying to make it manageable.

Theres nothing wrong with applying preemergent right now to prevent more crab the rest of summer. You could then delay your next application into October to prevent winter weeds.

Barricade is what we did the first time.
