So, DSS (or some offspring) shows up at my house today. I was out of town on business. Had my wife in tears.
They got a report that I have been BEATING my son (who is 13), and my wife is also at fault because she did not stop my abuse.
I CAN ASSURE YOU....NO SUCH THING EVER HAPPENED!!!
FULL DISCLOSURE...I do believe in spanking children (not BEATING). That said, when the lady from DSS asked my son about me beating him, he said that the last time I spanked him was when he was 6 or 7 years old (like I said he is 13, getting ready to be 14).
I am without words... ALMOST. I am TICKED OFF. I am sad. I really don't know what to feel (As Ron Burgandy once said, "I'm in a glass case of emotion"). However, I KNOW FOR A FACT, I HAVE NEVER BEAT MY SON!!!!
My reasons for putting this on a Clemson website:: #1 I know me, and my wife have done NOTHING wrong. #2 I need advise because I have never dealt with anything like this before. #3 I know we have several lawyers on the board who might be able to advise me. #4 I know Clemson people are good people. I am not perfect, but I do not BEAT my kids. #5 If I was guilty of this, there is no way in HADES I would ever put this out there for public consumption.
I will say that the 2 ladies that showed up at my house said that they considered this case a "FALSE ACCUSATION" but they will come back later. Supposedly, they will call before they come the next time.
How do you fight this type of crap? These accusations are 100% LIES!!! I have never had so much as a parking ticket in 20 years. Can I find out who filled out the report? Can I sue (I don't want to sue anyone, but this is a major deal for me) for defamation if I find out who they are? What are the penalties for someone who files a FALSE report?
Bottom line is this: If you don't think your liberties are being taken away every day then you are just not paying attention. These gov't agencies CAN TAKE YOUR KIDS because some anonymous person filed a report. You are not allowed to know who the people who filed the reports are (at least to my knowledge), but the government has the right to walk through your house and examine what you have/don't have and ask all sorts of questions that the government has no business asking a law abiding citizen.
