I am not getting into the racist debate in regards to some old actress with a spotty past. I just don't hold these people in such regard that every useless and idiotic tweet or post they make has me running to shut them down. I find her tweet in very bad taste and probably deserved to have her show canned. Even if some don't think it was deserved I think ABC has every right to hire and fire whoever they want. I will tell you that I find Keith Olberman to be an obnoxious ass but I am still gonna watch a game on ESPN. Now if he is broadcasting I will simply turn the channel.
why not just mute it? although in Olberman's case, he is awesome as long as he sticks to sports

I couldn't care less what anyone does/says with their private social media accounts.
I also fully support law enforcement and/or the company that pays that person, for penalizing them (firing them if need be...or even placing them in jail) for said remarks/actions on their personal social media accounts.
So many people have no fvcking clue what the 1st Amendment actually is. It does not mean "freedom of consequences."
Sure...say whatever the hell you want...but when you're being a dumbass (whether that's threatening the President, calling a black person an ape, encouraging the killing of law enforcement officers , etc), don't act surprised when there are consequences.
I have zero sympathy for Roseanne Barr or any of the other dumbasses on either side of the aisle.

Saying somebody wears eye shadow from her lies is not at all the same as calling someone an ape.

Not a surprise. Her pro-Trump stance meant she was always going to be on a short leash. She should have known that and acted accordingly. Instead, she was reckless and ignorant, and now cost herself and many others their jobs (not that she can’t handle the financial hit). Comparing a black woman to an ape? ABC made what had to be an easy call. It was really the only, and also the right, call. Never was a fan of the show or her, but it’s a shame, still.

This. I wasn't going to get involved in this thread, but some of you (left & right) come across so ridiculous that it's scary.
People who identify as hardcore right or left cannot see the forest for the trees, IMO. Way too concerned with treating their political affiliation as if it were their sports team, and automatically thinking that people who don't think the same way are the enemy and "wrong".
If another person says something that is slightly left-leaning, and you immediately start calling them a "Hollywood liberal" or "Hillary lover", I'm talking about you. Same goes for the folks who make remarks about all Republicans and Trump supporters being racist rednecks.
I believe the truth lies somewhere in the middle. Give me fiscal conservatism and personal freedom (a.k.a. the best concepts from both schools of thought). Extremism is hurting & dividing this country, and it's driven by the crazies on both sides.

I loved Roseanne in the 90s and I loved the reboot. It was one of the best shows on television .... but what she said was soooooo freakin racist ... outside of saying ... ya know ... the obvious ....likening a black person to a ape is .... disgusting.
