I'm heading to Pawleys Island in a few weeks to play golf with some friends. I'm not from the South Carolina so I'm not all to familiar with the golf courses from Charleston to Myrtle Beach.

I was wondering if y'all had any reccomendations of where to play? I know Caledonia is a pretty good track, but I was wondering if y'all had any good experiences with anything around that area. TIA

Lots of good golf around Pawleys. Caledonia and its sister course, True Blue are excellent! If nothing else, sit on the porch at Caledonia and bet on carrying the water on 18 and the food is very good. Caledonia is pretty and on the river/ricefields. True Blue is a hard golf course. The Heritage and Pawleys Plantation are also very good. Litchfield, River Club (not on the river), The Tradition and Willbrook are good, but a minor step down. The Founders Club is improved and probably the least expensive.

Wedgefield in Georgetown is out of the way but good.

The Reserve and DeBordieu are private, but if you can find a member - try them.

I really like True Blue, which is next door to Caledonia. TPC Myrtle Beach is also a great track and only 10 minutes from Pawleys. Heritage and Pawleys Plantation are decent other options on Pawleys.

Caledonia is wonderful as is True Blue...$200 to play though the last time I was down there. I played Pawleys Plantation in the past 6 months and the greens were complete shvt. Beautiful place though but for $125 you should at least have grass growing on the greens.

Speaking to Charleston golf, you'd have to drive over an hour just to get to Mt. Pleasant from Pawley's

Not sure it's worth it to drive that far for Rivertowne, Wild Dunes (Links & Harbor courses), Dunes West, Charleston National, or Patriot's Point. Maybe Rivertowne or one of the Wild Dunes courses, but only if y'all run out of places to play where you're staying.

The courses on Kiawah are the nicest public courses in the area, but that's south of Charleston and would take over 2 hours to get to from Pawley's

Agree, Rivertown and Wild Dunes would be the only ones worth that sort of drive.

If you are feeling frisky and not afraid to open your wallet, the best course in the MB area is The Dunes Golf and Beach Club. I know a couple years ago they were taking non member tee times, not sure if that's still the case. About a 45 minute drive north of Pawley's.

Caledonia and True Blue, you can play for less than $100 on each course in the summer and never have to leave Pawleys.

Both of these are great tracks, True Blue has a couple tricked up holes and Caledonia is a shorter course. If I had to pick just one, I'd play Caledonia. If memory serves Caledonia was / is on the top 100 courses in the US to play

Playing DeBordieu mid June. I'm a little worried. Looks like lots of water.

I played it a few years ago. Other than it being hotter than 40 hells in June I didn't think the water was too challenging.

Ended up playing Pawleys Plantation Friday, Heritage Club Saturday and Caledonia on Sunday. Great courses, we're all in good shape. Thanks for the suggestions guys. Got lucky weather wise other than Saturday afternoon.
