OT: Textbook Rental

OK, guys, if I can tear you away from your football fix for a minute... My wife is starting grad school in nursing and the book list is about $1000 worth. It has been years since I was in school. Does anyone have an opinion on renting textbooks? Anyone ever done it?

Any advice on either rental or the cheapest ways to purchase would be appreciated. TIA
