Would appreciate the feedback for restaurants on Sullivan's Island, Isle of Palms or Mt. Pleasant. Got a few already picked out in Charleston, but wondered if there were some local gems.

High Thyme but don't tell everyone!!! :) Home Team over Poe's. Not even close! Acme on IOP

And if anyone recommends The Wreck, find out where they live, drive to their house and slap them! STAY AWAY!

Just left IOP ...great meal at Long Island Cafe ...beside Harris Teeter , local , good . Had breakfast at the Seabiscuit , was great ! Also ACME seafood was real good for supper ! All really good , have fun !

@scotchtiger is so much better at this than most of the others ITT.

Red Drum actually has a revised/updated menu now. Quite tasty.

As for The Wreck, I have made it my first 39 years on this Earth without eating there. I suspect I ain't missing much.

Obstinate Daughter was good the time I went there. Cant get a reservation less than a week out, so haven't gone back. Home Team is better than Poe's. Poe's used to be amazing, but then they stopped caring about the quality of the food. If you want to go to Sullivans and not fight 1000 people, go to Dunleavy's. Average food (actually the grilled wings were awesome), but you won't have to wait 45 minutes to eat.

Tavern and Table is good. Popular and probably slightly overrated, but awesome spot. At least have a drink. You know where there is actually good food you wouldn't expect? The Shelter. Known the owner forever. He goes out every morning and catches his own fish and buys shrimp from Magwood, so you know you are getting local seafood. Nobody else on Shem Creek uses local seafood. Fact.

Charleston's Cafe for breakfast and Mozzo for lunch. Wouldn't waste my time at Page's.

Do not go to Harbor Fish House. Havent heard one single person say something good. Zero.

Here is the best restaurant in Mt. P: Langdon's. It's in a strip mall and it's expensive. But delicious.

Good recommendations here. I will say the views from The Harbor Fish House are awesome. Go upstairs and have a few drinks just before sunset at the upstairs outdoor bar. Langdons is great.

Thanks to all that that have responded! Lots of great advice! And Go Tigers!

PS: Maybe we should just stay to weeks and eat some more.

Shem Creek Bar and Grill is probably the worst restaurant in Mt. Pleasant. I would - no lie - go to McDonalds before that shithole. All tourists. Food is garbage.
This. Their food is the equivalent of Captain D's. Easily the worst restaurant in the area.

I live on Sullivans and haven't eaten at poe's in.......probably tells you all you need to know, tourist trap.

My favorite fine dining is High Tyme.
Family dining for fried seafood is Sullivans and Bar B que and burgers at Home team.
Not that impressed with Obstinate Daughter and has been said it is very difficult to get reservations there.

IOP - go get a burger at the windjammer. Fine italian dining at Coda del pece. Have some drinks on the outside deck at the boathouse and then go somewhere else to eat.

Mt. P I like Red Drum, Graze, Coleman Public House, Coco Pazzo

This.

I live in Mt. P, but Poe's is probably one of the worst burgers around.

i'll add the wings at home team, which I think was already mentioned, and also second the Acme rec and cocktails at Morgan Creek... but this is a very good list.

The Sea Biscuit Cafe has the best breakfast in the world. At least that is what my wife says. And she's a pretty harsh critic. If you'd like to try something different my nephew is the bar manager at a Cuban restaurant in Mt. Pleasant called The Americano. If you like spicy foods you'll like this. FYI: My nephew is a huge Clemson fan.

I have never eaten a burger at Poe's that I thought was any good...not that it was bad, per se, but not deserving of the accolades they receive. Don't know how they got the rep they have.

Sullivan's, I have loved for years. Unpretentious and solid, old-school beach restaurant.

Good advice for breakfast at Sea Biscuit....can't go wrong with this.

Have to say I love Page's and you can't beat the meal they serve you for the price they charge. Home cooking'...but since they have moved to the old Alex's location their popularity has skyrocketed, and maybe their quality is slipping? I don't know.

David? High thyme really is one of the last hidden gems. If you're going to do brunch highly recommend high thyme (also really good for dinner). For brunch get their early if you want a seat

Burgers used to be the best around. Then they stopped caring and now they are just shit. Got so busy with tourists that theyre just turnin and burnin.

That may be, but I had the same impression when a graphic artist friend of mine who did the branding for Poe's took us out to eat there shortly after they opened. Again, I don't think they are necessarily "bad," but their flavor combinations clearly don't match my palate.

And they would be infinitely better if they were cooked over charcoal.
