That is the entire thread.

The Dems wouldn't pass the stimulus bill without an inspector general being put over the dispersal of 500 billion in corporate funds instead of Mnuchin (who wouldn't have to disclose where or to who the payments were going for 6 months). Now Trump is saying for the executive to override those provisions in the bill with unfettered executive overreach. This is such an abuse of power so that the funds can go to Trump, his buddies, and those who will be beholden to him as ruler (just like he wants dem governors to act towards him). And that is way beyond the obvious campaign contributions and political support.

This is probably the single most brazenly authoritarian move in modern US history.

Please tell me how all of you who called Obama a communist/fascist/Hitler/authoritarian can square this kind of power grab? Those who support limited govt?? Those who didn't want to run up the deficit with pork and wasteful spending? Super Trumpers unite...

(PS the unitary executive theory espoused by neocons is the real power grab but conservatives only want it if they have power to rule, it is ideology pure and simple)

This is what con men do. It's like inviting a king cobra into your bed and then being surprised when it bites you. I just pity Republican voters who still believe he's a Republican.

Dude been bankrupt 6 times of course his business needs it.

But there is more!!

Trump and his family snuck in a tax break for themselves into the stimulus bill that only applies to rich people (1% of tax payers) and their ability to claim depreciation on real estate. They made themselves millions of dollars in tax breaks by ramming through the bill and complaining about a hold up and lives being lost when the dems were negotiating:

"Previously, if a married couple had depreciation deductions that exceeded their real estate business income, the couple could claim that "loss" to write off taxes on a maximum of $500,000 in income from other sources, like wages from a day job.
Under the change, our rich taxpayer couple -- and this applies only for individuals, not corporations -- can now deduct an unlimited amount of "excess losses" in real estate against income from other sources. So now real estate moguls with lucrative day jobs or bountiful capital gains from other investments can go back to living tax-free, the Kushner way, before limits were put in place as part of the 2017 tax reform bill.

It gets worse, if that's possible. The change applies to this year -- and retroactively to 2019 and 2018. This means rich people can file amended returns now, and get refunds of perhaps millions of dollars, sooner than we can produce the number of ventilators we might need for the coronavirus crisis.

Let's pause for a moment to review: The new relief provision only benefits those who can list more than $500,000 in excess business losses -- typically artificial losses from depreciation that have more than wiped out their business income on paper -- AND more than $500,000 in other income from wages or other sources now that the cap on the tax break has been removed. Pity such people in a time of pandemic? Congress did."

The NY Times? Haha they sure can be trusted to report factual and unbiased information.

Their score on mediabiasfactcheck:
  • highly factual and considered one of the most reliable sources for news information due to proper sourcing and well respected journalists/editors.
If you want to cite other fact checkers I am more than willing to consider them.

Thank you for all the links and evidence of your point. They were helpful in deciding if I should listen to anything you say.

This is exactly the level of detail and analysis I expected from someone making a counterpoint to his post. Thank you for all the references and rational discourse that you included.
