A neighbor's kid asked our 12-year-old son to a vbs at a local church this week. He goes from 8-12 everyday. They have a bible study, play some type of games/sports and have a craft time, etc. They have college kids and youth helping a few adults. The only rule is they can't bring electronic devices.

Everything seemed to be going well until yesterday. My son snuck his ipad in to catch a little fortnite during bible study. One of the college-aged girls saw him and pulled him out of the group in front of everybody and chastised him. She took the ipad and got down in his face and was trying to embarrass him. My wife and I have always told him to stand up for himself, so he spit in her face.

My wife was called and when she got there, all hell had broken loose. The counselors were all up in arms over it, and my son had been totally ostrich sized. No fault at all was placed on the girl who started all of this in the first place. She was the one who basically assaulted my son and took his property forcefully. Where I'm from that is textbook theft.

I've called the pastor and told him that we demand the girl apologize to my family this Sunday in front of the entire congregation. I've also demanded that this girl can never volunteer at the church again. I told him I gave a sizable political contribution to our sheriff this year, and I would hate to get him involved. Hopefully things will work out and he will meet our demands.

No one needs to be Spock to realize that spitting in someone's face supersedes all else.

Wow. Overreact much? Your son was wrong for taking an ipad to church and so are you if you let him. The girl probably did a poor job of taking away the ipad, but I'd probably take her word over your sons. And spitting in her face? Come on. Would it be acceptable for him to spit in a teachers face if he took an ipad to school? And your reaction threatening with the "I gave major contributions to the sherrif". That is piss poor . Hopefully you called the sherrif and he told you you're being an ass.

As others have said. Terrible job parenting.

Sorry this thread didnt give you the pat on the back you wanted

I like the ostrich sized

Sounds like this is a case for SCOTUS

Not LOL

This is something that has gotten out of hand

A minor infraction and reactions that are being overblown

Spank your son

Explain the rules he broke

Have a calm collected talk with person in charge at camp

Explain to son that yes there was some poor reaction and behavior on their part but that he is responsible for himself and not them

Now let it go and move on

But work on your parenting skills

If I were the Pastor, I would simply call the Sheriff and explain that the young lady was threatened by a parent who has anger issues and is a threat to the church. The man is not only a danger to innocent people, but to his own child.
