I had no idea that there's more to it than just intangible money. In fact, sounds like the blockchain ledger is a technology a lot of people are really excited about and is very secure. I'm surprised we don't hear the Ron/Rand Paul's of the world talking about this.
I know nothing about coding, cryptography, etc nor much at all about currency markets. It sounds like Bitcoin is a digital version of "the gold standard" with a finite amount of supply, although it swings wildly right now. I guess if you think about it, if the world went to $hit, a bar of gold wouldn't be worth much more than anything else, so there's not a whole lot of difference.
I'm certainly not going out and trading in all my USD for Bitcoins, but its certainly a very interesting experiement. The whole "mining" thing is fascinating too - and I have lots of questions about it (like what happens when all the Bitcoins are mined)
Chime in if you have an opinion or have any experience with this!
